The Atlanta Braves

I hated the change to the 4th quarter but this is exciting.

I hope the so-called Elam Ending -- where at some point you turn off the clock and play to a target score -- will eventually be the future of basketball, because it completely eliminates the whole tedious part of the game where one team is intentionally fouling the other. They use it in this "The Tournament" thing and apparently it's great. The usual way of doing it is with 4 minutes left, they turn off the clock and add 7 points to the leading team's score and then that's what you play to.

Why not just kill the clock entirely and play to ~105

Because if you play to an arbitrarily high score then winning a championship as a defense-first team becomes more or less impossible. The Elam Ending keeps the entire game; it just whacks off the last few tedious minutes of fouling and timeouts and replaces it with an even higher intensity version of actual basketball. You could still chew clock and limit possessions and do everything Virigina did to win a title last year.

I will grant that if you enjoy the way that basketball games usually end, where the last two minutes is an endless parade of intentional fouls and free throws and timeouts, then you're not likely to see much value in it.

Sounds entertaining

Carl Lewis realizing he was in trouble and saying "Wuh-ohh" in the middle of the national anthem may be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
Charley Steiner on SportsCenter trying to do the “highlights” including the anthem was timeless too.

So, the question is, at Snit's age, is a 2 year extension his last contract?

Idk this guy has been with the organization for 40+ years. They might have to take the jersey off him literally.

I still think AA wants his own guy but the old guard still wants to keep their boy Snit.

Snitker is pretty meh, we can all agree. But, on the whole, he’s done far more good than bad. I don’t think AA is eager to run him off.

I wonder who the old guard even is anymore. Bobby had a stroke. Schuerholz is 80 and I can't believe he's involved in much of a meaningful way. Terry McGuirk is 70 and I guess he's still the Chairman.

McGuirk is definitely in charge but I don’t know how tied to Schuerholz and Bobby he is.

Say what you will about him, it's hard to deny the job he's done the last couple of years with a musical chairs starting rotation and bad bullpen.

He’s proven to be a very good regular season manager. He gets his guys motivated every single day to win the game and that’s very hard to do.

His high leverage decisions leave a ton to be desired but I don’t think it’s a guarantee you get a better result - on the whole - with whichever manager you choose to replace him.
