So they aren't going through warm America to get there? No going through warm airports to get there. And by what the Chinese President said the warmer weather would kill it.

Rise from 0? At such a low number, rising is reasonable.

Also, you can get the flu here in summer. Certainly not as prevalent, but it happens.

There are probably several other factors, including more time spent indoors around other people during winter months, decreased indoor humidity due to the use of central heat, possibly Vitamin D/sunlight, etc.

Of course, nobody knows if this novel Coronavirus will behave in a similar manner, yet.
