Which is more likely: that this is a natural mutation of preexisting coronavirus, or that it is an HIV-laced bio weapon ?

Changing a fact to this because of TDS in a virus thread is unreal. I think you're past help.
I doubt Trump is reporting what Xi told him. I doubt Xi has been truthful with Trump and that Trump is aware of that. I also think Trump and the CDC are trying to keep everyone from panicking as no one fully understands the virus at this point. If investors get spooked, the economy will get hurt. The way China continues to cancel big events, it’s not going to be that much longer before our economy starts to weaken.I think it is highly relevant in the PF to note that Trump is so unsophisticated that he would just repeat what Xi said to him, in an effort to make it seem like the risk is about to end. I have no idea whether warmer weather would inhibit the virus -- it may well do so. But, one, I guran-damn-tee you that when Trump said that he had zero clue, either, and two, he has still not learned that as President he ought to be careful before he just blurts out stuff like that.
In fact, I daresay that the reason you framed it the way you did -- pointing out that Trump was told that by XI -- was because you realized what an idiot Trump was for saying that, when he really has no idea what he is talking about. As usual.

Trump is mouthy. Sometimes he says some dumb things. I think he gives responses just to give them. In this case it’s more of trying to paint a positive picture and to move on to other questions. So you think that the DJIA meaningfully reacts to Trump saying no worries, warmer weather will take care of it? Please. These are educated and sophisticated people. They, like the rest of us, rolled their eyes at Trump saying that.
Everybody head to DynaLo's house! Not a political commentary or panic post just a post on what I’m seeing from my POV in looking at the larger global picture. Opinions will vary.
Folks, stock up on non perishable things your family needs and uses while they’re available and relatively still low priced. Find the storage space, get creative. We may see shortages and we’ll certainly see price increases if that happens, and not just related to this virus. Seriously, is there such a thing as having to much toilet paper in the house?
Go ahead and look into getting your needed medications in a 90 day supply if you don’t already do this. Do you know who produces most meds or their component parts? Aren’t drug prices high enough right now? Where might they be in a few months? Daily vitamins and supplements should probably be included here as a buy now as well.
Vehicle need parts or maintenance? Might want to address that sooner than later if you look at the automotive sectors impacted.
The markets fell when the virus hit the news and to me it looks artificially propped right now to allow for the profit taking of the major holders. Bezos just liquidated a ton. One would think that folks would stay home and order more online to avoid contagion thus increasing his profits but global supply chains are already damaged, some in the short term and some longer. He knows folks can’t buy if it’s out of stock thus lowering earnings and stock prices. Why large sell for a paper loss if it’s only a small short term one that should be easily recouped.
Anyone notice a cruise line CEO sell a ton of stock recently? How hard is that sector getting hit and how much are they going to have to invest in visible decontamination of all their ships to restore public confidence?
Take a moment and think about other economic sectors that could take a hit even without a virus outbreak here in the US just simply due to the importation supply chain and associated transportation we rely on from around the globe. How would you and your families lives be impacted?
TLR- thoughts from the peanut gallery
Also the CDC is now changing their messaging on this. It was the virus was a low risk to the wider American population to now, "it may spread widely through the community."
