I can't recall a single person on this board that is pro-Trump arguing for the elimination of the EC. Plenty who are anti-Trump who have though

I'm just saying that the thinking about the EC on the right, like all partisan thinking, is just as situational as the thinking on the left.

The anti-Trumpers will be big EC proponents in a decade because we are nearing a statistical inflection point where the EC will be very unfair to the right.

I'll raise a toast to those on either side who keep the same position once it happens.

It’s the rules of the game . There’s no reason to complain about it either way when all involved know the rules . I’ve always found it funny to watch some complain about the RV if they lose knowing before it started that’s how it works . If you want to win , win the EC the rest will take care of itself .

No idea. The first part is translating vote to SDE (state delegate equivalents). That's where Pete gets the edge and I presume that's based on who wins in each local area (kinda like the EC). That then gets translated to the actual delegates for the convention.

It's interesting if you look at the chart how big the gap in real delegates between Biden and Klobuchar compared to the margin in SDEs between the 2.

The EC would be better if each state gave their EC votes in proportion to the individual votes cast and not a winner take all system.

Some do some type of division (Maine and Nebraska I think) but not sure if it's proportional

Eh the electoral college serves its intended purpose to ensure that large populous areas that may lean towards one side don’t dictate the results of an election. Without the electoral college New England states (more specifically New York) and California would determine an election. I like it and believe it is a great equalizer no matter where the result goes.

The frustrating thing is seeing the Democratic side when they fail saying it’s out dated and needs to changed yet when it helps them it’s this is the way it is deal with it.

As an independent it is offsetting to me.

For me I always go back to the founding. It's called the United States of America. The states agreed to cede SOME power to a Federal Government rather than to exist as sovereign states. The EC preserves this idea.

At the end of the day all they have to do is be transparent about the rules and the process. Since they weren’t it leaves the entire thing up for debate to where you actually have three people who have claimed victory and conspiracy theories floating around.

This is what you get when you are intentionally vague.
