Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Funny story. My wife has always been ready for doomsday. Me not so much. She's always bought stuff that I scoffed at and teased her about. She's put life straws in my stockings, water proof matches and such. We were discussing what we should do if things got bad with this virus. She works outside the home and I said I was more worried about her making it home from work if something happened. I told her we need to assemble something for her to put in her car in case should couldn't get home, whether it be a weather situation, traffic or whatever. I told her we should get her a backpack she could keep in her trunk. A few minutes later she came to me and said follow me. She took me to a spare bedroom where she had laid out on the queen size bed covered from head to foot with survival stuff. Everything from MREs to storm proof matches to emergency blankets to emergency water pouches, rope, fire starters on and on. Much of the food was expired so there is no telling how long she had been accumulating that stuff. there was enough stuff to survive WWIII.

Ok, I like your wife a lot! She and I, we’d get along😊

This. This guy gets it.

If you arent well armed...AND quite accurate with those weapons...you arent really prepping for you and yours unless you live in a huge parcel that has natural defenses others cannot overcome to get to you. Unarmed, you are just stocking up for someone better armed to survive the crisis. Country living should help quite a bit over urban living environments. Imagine big cities here when there is no rule of law....wow. might makes right in those situations. Think people are violent now? Wait until they are starving, scared, dying etc...
I've noticed lock pick sets are increasingly becoming part of a survivalist gear.

Health care professionals know how to put the mask on correctly, aren’t likely to let down their guard due to a false sense of safety, and wash their hands constantly. But hey thanks for contributing to the mask shortage that could happen for medical professionals. But you do you.

Medical professionals get their face masks at Walmart?

We also have our biggest jump in international cases for a single day with 38 new cases world wide.

Absolutely. You can have all the survival gear you want, but with no way to defend it it can be easily taken from you.

We haven't seen the dark side of humanity in this country in ages. Wait until your neighbor is starving. His kids are begging for something to eat. What would you do to feed your kids? He knows you have extra food. You let it slip over a few beers one evening. He's coming.....probably at night....and he will kill to feed his kids.

True enough. Read the book One Second After.

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

The U.S., with 11 diagnosed cases so far, plans to quarantine at military bases potentially more than 1,000 Americans evacuated from China’s Hubei province. State health departments are activating emergency programs to isolate the potentially infected—a piecemeal approach that could range from specialized facilities to hotels. Some hospitals have tents in stock to use as emergency isolation wards.

N95 masks are best. Regular masks are better than nothing, when used correctly. This kind of virus is spread by respiratory droplets.
