I've never heard the term neoliberal centrist...anyone else see a split coming in the Democratic party...maybe a 3rd party called the Progressives?
Bern is somewhere between communist and socialist.Because it's universally accepted within the democratic party. The core party message is political and social continuum. Look at Bernie - an admitted socialist accepted by the democratic party in order to own another pocket of votes. Normally an independent is thought of someone between the democratic and republican parties that can swing either direction. Not Sanders - he is left of the democratic party yet he hijacks the idea of an independent.

I could see in the next 10 years the 2 main parties becoming 4 parties.I found a reference to it . I’d never heard it before either but the left is so fractured right now they don’t know what they want .
Here We Go Again: Neoliberal Centrists Are Anointing One of Their Own—and It Could Cost Us
If 2 becomes 4 then it's highly likely that we allowed a radical wing left wing to take root as a legitimate threat to the republic with socialist/communist principles and ideas.
What we consider our radical left would actually be centrist pretty much anywhere else in the world. We're lurching hard right and moving there faster with each passing year.
How do you figure? The policies of the leading Dem candidates are all far left of where Obama was in 2008. Obama didn't go for Medicare for all, paying off student loans or free college.
As for the country we now have gay marriage in every state and the LBGBT folks have literally changed our dictionary. The word "we" is no longer a plural term anymore. We now don't have just 2 sexes, let alone gender identities.
It's the Republicans trying to keep us sane, not move us further right

You're looking at things from a perspective inside the machine. If you step away and look at American policies and stances over the course of our Republic, you'll find that the Reagan years and the connection with the Moral Majority and Religious Right prompted movement further to the right at a faster rate than normal. Yes, there are some left outliers, but overall the policies of the left at large closely mirror the policies of the right at the turn of the 1900s.
The policies of the left today mirror the policies of the right in the 1900s ?![]()
