When I think great guitarist, I think of the ones what came through that started styles that were copied to such a degree that they seem cliche now. So, not “technical” as much as creative.

1) Son House/Robert Johnson
2) Buddy Holly
3) Jimi Hendrix
4) Duane Allman
5) Jimmy Page
6) Tony Iommi
7) Van Halen
8) Edge

You could trace so many different genres around today back to those handful of dudes who were just figured stuff. An interesting common denominator is that I think they’re all from working class background and just figured stuff out.

Taylor Swift is easily #4

I would add names such as Maybelle Carter, along with members of “The Wrecking Crew”, such as Bill Pittman and Tommy Tedesco. As with the last two, some of the best guitarists/musicians often worked with little public recognition as session players.

My heart goes out to you and your family and have some advice for all my Vol family here. I haven’t mentioned it here but i lost my sweet beautiful Mom just days ago. She was only 73 and has been in and out of the hospital since Thanksgiving. She spent most of November and December in the ICU for heart failure issues. i finally got to bring her home in early January and she was doing excellent and better than ever before. Unfortunately we didnt know it, but a catheter made her have a UTI while she was in the hospital and they sent her home not knowing. I woke up the other morning and she was laying in bed with a fever. By the time the ambulance got her to the hospital she was already in septic shock and she left me just 2 days later. We are devastated and very confused at the same time how her life was taken that fast. Everyone please educate yourself on Sepsis and if you have a loved one in and out of hospitals often please DEMAND they check them for any infection, no matter how small it may be...... get it treated. i appreciate any positive thoughts and prayers sent my way.

I am so very sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Trouble making Grant Williams.

How many "Boogie"s are there? That's also his teammate, Carsen Edwards' nickname. I was honestly expecting that Carsen Edwards made a corner 3, and Grant gave him a thumbs up, because that's the shot he made on us in the Sweet 16 last year. That would have been much funnier.

Not very well known in the states but Kim Mitchell is another underrated but very good guitar player. I don't believe Joe Walsh or Don Felder have been mentioned either. I'm a huge Eagles fan so I hold those 2 in very high esteem. On the country side of things Vince Gill and Steve Wariner are highly respected as well.

Keith Urban and Brad Paisley are known for their ghee-tar abilities.

“Just like I am with antique furniture and midgets. You know that, I can't so much as drink a damn glass of water around a midget or a piece of antique furniture.”
