Continue to lose on in state talent? Keyshawn Lawrence, Omari Thomas, Tyler Baron, Eric Gray, etc. don't count because we didn't get one? In state talent is all that matters? GA got the # 3, 5, 29, and 30 player in their talent rich state, but nobody is having a breakdown because they got talent from other states. No team gets every player they want.in Hardy’s lifetime Auburn has a more winning tradition. We will continue to lose in state talent until that problem is rectified. I think that started this year. 9 wins next year and everyone will be flocking to UT.
Taking nothing away from those guys. Considering the post I was responding to it’s a fair reason for why a recruit might want to go to Auburn over UT right now. I’ve never understood all the “why would a recruit want to go to [input name of top flight program] over Tennessee?!?” comments. They’re just silly. Auburn is a tradition rich school with more recent success than us. We have pulled plenty of great in-state guys this class. Doesnt mean we haven’t missed out on some great players due to an incredible level of incompetence from past ADs giving us terrible coaching and historically low seasons.Continue to lose on in state talent? I'm not kidding myself about what Auburn has to sell recruits. Also not seeing this one recruit as a Henry T. either. Sure he would have been awesome to go along with Bailey, Baron and Thomas, but if we got to order from a catalog there are others I would have ordered.Taking nothing away from those guys. I didn’t intend to implicate a wide spread exodus of UT talent though. I realize we can’t get them all, but when DL is maybe the biggest need in the class and you don’t get the #1 DL prospect in the state it sucks no matter how you slice it, so let’s not kid ourselves with the “AuBuRn iS a LoSeR PrOgRaM” idiocy. Plenty of reasons for recruits to go there. That’s all I was really getting at.
I wasn’t intending you were kidding yourself, btw. Just the OP I replied to. You are blowing this out of proportion. I didn’t mean it as a sweeping generalization and I don’t wish to defend it any further. Count me in with the “it ain’t over til the ink hits the paper” crowd!I'm not kidding myself about what Auburn has to sell recruits. Also not seeing this one recruit as a Henry T. either.
