My criticism and it’s not a harsh one is why on earth did he go away from the model that won us an SEC title and got us to #1?

We were undersized but a Match up nightmare for opponents mostly because of quickness.

Now we replaced Bone, who was an elite athlete with a blow by first step, with SV who is very slow but can shoot while Bone was suspect in that area

We replaced williams and Alexander who were undersized in different ways with UP whom is huge but is a very poor athlete. He’s the opposite of Alexander.

It seems very odd to have gone away from the undersized quicker player model that was so successful

Barnes gets paid and has landed 3 of the top 10 recruits in UT history.

Unfortunately 2 aren’t on campus yet. Santiago & James came here to be developed and made into better players. I expect both to get better as the season goes on.

Bowden will eventually stop missing so many shots. And Pons & Fulkerson will continue to be solid contributors.

This could be a bubble team that makes a run in the SEC tournament. Just need the effort to be a constant every night, something else that has to be learned.

6 first year starters, and no they aren’t 5* lottery picks like Duke and Kentucky reload with every year.

I wasn't happy with the way Barnes handled the UCLA thing, during or after. He made this business. He deserves the criticism. He spent up a lot of fan equity.

He’s the victim of his own success. He took over a terrible situation, recruited 3 stars to develop, and succeeded. People criticized his recruiting at the time.

The third year was not a FF team, especially after Alexander got hurt in the first NCAAT game. Barnes develops Grant into a back to back player of the year and year four gets to number one while they won some 15+ games by double digits.

The greatest accomplishment was getting three drafted, and Alexander just signed a two way deal when he’s probably played 6 years of basketball his whole life.

Now, people question Barnes, and he’s about to bring in three top 40 players. We have some crazy fans, but that’s the world we live in. And some still want to compare to Pearl, when up until Barnes, Pearl was probably the best coach in UT histor.

That Auburn bandwagon has plenty of seats . I suggest you jump on. That is if you jump off that GA football bandwagon in the off season.

He’s not at Tennessee because there wasn’t anyone in the administration at the time who would go to bat for him. He threw a barbecue at his house for crying out loud. Go study Cal’s recruiting tactics and get back with me.

Look Bruce is great and so is Barnes. I personally think pearl is a little better coach but I also trust Barnes to bring in players that won’t embarrass me when I ready the police blotter. For me that sense of pride in the character I have in our players is worth the little bit less Coaching and results that we get from Barnes over Pearl

Should have been smart enough not to lie about it. People who keep stressing the bbq part while ignoring he decided to lie about it are delusional. Bruce created his own situation. UT didn't screw him over, he screwed himself.

Me either. Most possessions are just some off-ball screens, swing passes around the perimeter, and a prayer for a pass into the post or a contested 3pt.

The need for a true 5 is real, but man do we need a true PG. Vescovi can get there, but he needs time. No one outside of JJJ can create their own shot, and no one can dribble penetrate.

Cal would have had the cookout at an assustant’s house. He doesn’t actively participate to have plausible deniability. Long history of it.

If Bruce had thought it through, he knew it was a secondary violation. Not a smart move on his part.

I think assuming Barnes is with UT for the next 3-4 years he may well bring us our first Final Four & firmly end the debate completely.

I agree. We don't have the beef either. We were a very physical team. We don't have that physicality. Maybe it's youth?
