Burrow has been unstoppable since he took this hit on a pick 6 return in the Fiesta bowl last year. Before the hit UCF's defense was shutting him down. That hit woke him up and he went off.

Burrow's like The Undertaker.

From the Athletic's Preseason top 25 for next year:

19. Tennessee (8-5)
The Vols ended the season on a six-game winning streak, with their young defense finishing in the top 25 nationally in yards per play. The entire D-line, freshman LB Henry To’o To’o and CB Bryce Thompson lead a host of returning starters. We’ll see if the never-ending QB derby between Jarrett Guarantano and Brian Maurer finally resolves itself. The offensive line could improve considerably with G Trey Smith returning.
High expectations with Oklahoma on our schedule and the usual suspects. I love it.

i don't really know how high that expectation is, at a fringe top 20 team?

a ranking at that spot is basically recognition of what happened last year combined iwth what's returning....but it's not soooo high that if you falter early (agianst OU and/or UF) that you'll be a gigantic miss as a ranked team.

conversely, if you do well early, it provides the opportunity for upward mobility.....and it wouldn't necessarily be a "shock" to see TN as a fringe top 10 team possibly, should they beat OU and/or FL..

so if anyone has TN ranked in the bottom 20% of a top 25 poll, i think that's probably a good, safe pick, and probably about right.

lastly, even if you start off with a couple L's in Sept against OU and FL, but maybe you finish strong, with a W over GA in November, you can probably get back in and basically finish where you started...

long story short...........imo, it's just about right as far as progression goes for our proram.

i will give you this. the older teams would definitley have to adjust their level of physicality to today's softer game....there was no targeting or illegal blind side blocking or unnecessary roughness hits on the QB in the pocket (so long as not late)....

defenders back then were looking to take your head off.

no penalties back in the day for hits like this...

I don’t think that’d be a penalty today. Shoulder to sternum hit looks good

...he totally lowered the crown of his helmet, and launched....where he hit Kent doesn't matter with the rule today.

that's 100% targetting today.....
I disagree. No part of his head hits Kent. Only his shoulder. Had he hit with his head, he probably would have hurt himself

The old heads dont want to accept it, but comparable great 90's teams would likely be crushed by teams from today. Everyone is bigger, stronger, faster than before coupled with analytics and technology.

I would love to see teams today try to stop that 95 Nebraska team from running the football.

i think as we sit here today, not knowing really jack squat about what the roster winds up lookinig like in August, TN is probably gonna be picked to finish 3rd in the east, with maybe some fringe 2nd's....and most will say 8-4 as a likely finishing record...

i think UF will be a trendy pick to win the East, but utlimately UGA probably gets the nod again....

Bama will be picked to win the West, Auburn/LSU 2nd/3rd.... though i do think aTm will be a trendy pick to maybe surprise some folks this year finally, and maybe finish 2nd or 3rd.

SEC title game next year is gonna be picked once again Bama v UGA. they trust saban, and just believe UGA has more than enough talent to still "out talent" the rest of the east....

I don't think Georgia is competing.

QB - Fromm
RB - Swift, Herrien
WR - Simmons, Cager
TE - Wolf, Woerner
OL - Cade, Wilson, Kindley, Thomas
DL - Marshall, Clark, Barnett
LB - Crowder
DB - Reed

Still got 6 days before the NFL draft deadline too. So may lose a few more guys.

That's a ton of people to lose, and they've had attrition in the last few classes so the "reload" thing isn't going to be as easy.
