i think the 95 Nebraska team would roll this year’s LSU team doing basically what they did to Florida.

1996 Fiesta Bowl - Wikipedia

They would have played tight coverage to choke off the hot routes, and Grant Winstrom and friends would get there before longer plays would have developed. And that LSU defense isn’t built to stop a ground game like Nebraska.

If we had time machines, it’d be fun to think about an all-time four team playoff.

If that team existed today, half of them would be suspended for anabolics

95 Neb
01 Miami
04 USC
19 LSU

i think that'd be fun....could maybe make a place for 88 Notre Dame? or 18 Clemson...

my money would be on Nebraska

If I remember correctly, we recruited him, he wanted to come, Simms committed, Dorsey committed to Miami, and when Simms decided to go to Texas, the Dorsey ship had already sailed.

I don't remember how close he ever was to signing, but Tenn had already landed AJ Suggs who was ranked higher than Eli at the time, so I think they were content with where they were at QB(which, lol in hindsight). Dorsey wasn't that highly recruited. I think he was a 3 star rated 30th best QB or something. Then they got Casey in that loaded 2000 class and thankfully sent AJ on his way.

No doubt but it’s evident that the dynasty is slipping slightly. That said, that proclamation was made a couple times for Bear Bryant and we know how that went. Lil’ Nicky still has 1-2 championships left but there will be greater valleys in between.
They only lost..by five...with a hobbled Tua...to the "Greatest team of all time"...chuckle chuckle..

Honestly I don’t think there’s an argument. Yeah there was a bunch of NFL talent on that 01 Miami team so they’re probably the most TALENTED team of all time but their COLLEGE resume doesn’t compete with this LSU team. They dominated the best conference in college football and blew out both teams in the playoff. Best college ball team of all time
So...you arguing RESUME...not actual TEAM..

Seems a trivial thing but this affects recruits. That lil extra achieves that extra sell imo. Fulmer delayed already approved Neyland upgrades to pay coaches and ramp up the accouterments to increase the talent level. Keeps proving those of us (including me) wrong that thought he wouldn’t immediately be the right guy for the job.
This is what LSU did before the 2019 season, and look what that got them. Just saying, it's not a bad move if you want to be elite.

LSU's football team has a new $28 million locker room — complete with sleep pods, a pool, and a mini theater

I think they would cut through that field like one of those giant combines. It is hard for young people to understand because they did not see it. Just pure huge fast brutality on both sides of the ball.

Most teams didn't want Jennings as QB. Tennessee promised him a chance there because that's what he wanted, but he was expected to play either WR or safety. His evaluation was more as an athlete.

Yeah, I think safety was even the most predicted, iirc. But that's always a big if.
