I have watched zero baseball this year and have no context, but how is it ever wrong to steal another team's signs? If you can figure it out, why is that wrong?
The Astros went ahead and fired both already. The Astros just got killed for the sign stealing saga.
GM and head coach both suspended the entire season, the team was fined $5 million and they lose first and second round draft picks the next two years. No players were punished.
Also says the current Red Sox manager who was part of the process in Houston and was accused of doing the same thing in Boston will be heavily punished after the Red Sox investigation is completed.
Astros' Luhnow, Hinch suspended for 1 season
The Astros punishment just makes me hate the Patriots even more.
Hundreds of thousands to millions. One draft pick to several. Suspensions versus nada.
Shield my butt. Exhibit #23 why Brady can't hold Manning's jock strap.
Thanks, I hadn't see the details. I was thinking this was about reading the 1st or 3rd base coach signs or something, but stealing the pitch signs makes a lot more sense why that would be punished. They used technology. A video camera was set up in center field, and a coach would watch it in real time while in the tunnel of the dugout. He would then bang on a trash can twice if an offspeed pitch was coming.
I know unwritten rules talk of not stealing signs at all, but I understand if you can do it while on second base. That's using your human ability to determine a sign. But using technology is absolutely wrong, and I don't have a problem with the punishment.
