2020 SEC QBs

I will say this. Had JG came out threw for 300+ yards and a few TD's and we beat Indiana in a blowout, I could see no issue with Pruitt saying he is the starter going into the offseason and next season.

However with the current result, I don't see how Pruitt goes into the offseason with anyone as the favorite.

This is his 3rd year coming up. We finished 8-5 in year 2 when it should have been 10-3 most likely. Year 3 has to be 8-4 at minimum. Not sure how he plays a graduating player who has always been lackluster in his career and not give the younger guys who have 2-3 years of playing left.

Worst thing for Pruitt's job is to go 7-5/6-6 with JG and we roll into 2021 with Bailey or even Maurer not having significant playing time in 2020......

Pruitt is smart enough to realize this too
Shoulda woulda coulda again, you have no way of knowing that we should have went 10-3. With better QB play maybe but we didn't get good QB play from BM or JT at all, actually it was borderline terrible from the two so I don't think that you can make the claim that we would have gone 10-3 with the backups, especially with those being the 1st 2 games of the year.

No one but JG ever got a chance to settle down and get in a rhythm for us at QB.
So it’s hard to compare what they done.
We had 1 we no is not that good but had all the experience, the other 2 ??
BM got to start 4 games this year, he got to come in at critical moment of the bowl game, he could not get it done. JG didn't have any problems getting into a rhythm coming off the bench. This idea that BM wasn't given a chance is ridiculous.

I don't think anyone can sit here say that a QB who's career averages (Less than 200 passing yards per game / Less than 2 TD's per game all with mostly the same receivers and tight end groups) is a QB who should get a 4th straight year of starting. All while holding a 9-16 record as starter and having led offenses that have scored more than 24 points vs P5 schools just 4 times as a starter......
There you go again with the most ridiculous take. Only 6 teams in the SEC threw for more than 200 yards a game. It's not uncommon for a conservative offensive philosophy to average around 200/game. If you'd like to debate the style offense we run then fine but expecting Pruitt to start throwing the ball all over the place is just not going to happen.

That’s ridiculous. The bowl game, he didn’t have time to break a sweat or settle the nerves of a true freshman. How many of them 4 games did he finish or even play a full quarter?
JG has been here 4 years so he shouldn’t have a problem, but if what we saw was him in a rhythm then I’ll take my chances with one of the others next year.
Pretty sure they will be able to put up 17-21 points even if they do make mistakes more if they don’t and well That’s the ceiling for JG ,
Proven for 2 straight years.

Now name the SEC teams that have fell under 200 yards per game over multiple years with the same starting QB........

No where did I say this in my comments you responded to.

Part of being a starting QB in the SEC is being able to finish games. It's impossible to be successful if your starting QB can't make it to halftime, which is why JG finished the year at QB1.

Also while I am at it:

2017 - 8 SEC teams passed for over 200 yards per game
2018 - 9 SEC teams passed for over 200 yards per game
2019 - 9 SEC teams passed for over 200 yards per game (including UT who started 4 different guys)

So care to explain your 6 teams take?

Have you heard of Google? Not a hard thing to use.

Why didnt JG get pulled at Vandy for crapping the bed?? Against the worst defense in the league... and you have no idea abd cannot state that we would have won any of the games had He started them..bottom line is CJP went with whar he knew he had in JG. Next season he doesn't have the luxury of an layup season..

He's got more luxury next year as our overall team will be improved.

Yo @PulaskiVolFan where'd go? How does 9 teams equal 6?

Uh, no. The Bama freshman and Jones will be better. Whoever UGAs grad transfer is, will be better. Ole Miss QB will be better. Trask is WAY better.

JG will remain an unpredictable mental health case in 2020.
Looks like it’ll be Newman from Wake Forest.

please please please start bailey....too dang old to go thru another jg season.

Pro side of it would be Bailey would never have a better offensive line than what he would have next year if Cade Mays gets his waiver granted

Just depends if the staff is sold on Bailey and if they’re willing to grow with him for a year. It’s possible Bailey gives UT the best shot at winning, but game experience is huge.

I'm afraid JG is above average at best and awful at his worst. I hope we can get a better starter next season. I do appreciate his toughness and effort though, I respect the hell out of him.
