Imagine being an Ole Miss fan and realizing your team had the two best rookies in the NFL with nothing to show for it.

Well that was because they signed with freeze and he was fired before he could really work with them

For the first half of Brady’s career this is true but There were a couple years in Indy when the colts had arguably the best defense in the nfl. I think it was 2005 when they gave up single digits like 6 times or something like that. They had no business getting bounced by the Steelers in the first round

I think that brand of cover 2 was becoming outdated in the league. Seems like it was harder for a D full of smaller fast dudes to hold up against real physical teams in the playoffs.

To be fair, Brady has never had the kind of offensive weapons around him that Manning did at Indy with James, Harrison, Wayne, and Clark. But Manning never had a defense to lean on like Brady did either, except for his last year at Denver. And defense wins championships.
Peyton also helped to make those guys better.

2015 Vols (and 2016 to a lesser extent, which was just an even more underachieving version of 2015) is proof to me that you don't necessarily need a bulletproof roster to win. They blew the OU and UF games. Would have beaten Arkansas if they had momentum from winning either of those. Had the lead late vs Bama in Tuscaloosa.

If you have a relatively "complete" roster that's at least top 15 in talent overall with a handful of All-SEC caliber players (and a reliable, playmaking QB), you can beat anyone. It's easier of course if you have Bama/Clemson talent, but it's not 100% necessary. You can get by with less. Can only play 11 at a time.
#2 3rd down defense in the country.

The Lil Jon mojo was real

Makes sense it would be a top priority, for RB specifically. Just how much can you really coach up RBs? I've heard of elite OL/DL/QB coaches...can't think of anyone designated the best RB coach out there.

Yea but also you can tell when one is lacking in the coaching department which i think we have been since CMG left.

He threw those meds in the trash and woke TF up. Hope he brings that from day 1 next year. He is much better that way.

Maybe good for his health during the offseason, but we need "more steam Pruitt" for 4 months out of the year.
He’s obviously a very good X’s and O’s coach, and he can connect with his players at a very high level. The CEO coach thing simply doesn’t work for him and I hope he’s finally realized it.

He’s a ground floor grunt, nose in the dirt football coach. And we can get where we want to go because of it.

Kamara, Dobbs, Jennings, Malone, Preston Williams, Calloway, Tuttle, barnett, Sutton...

We should have at least went to the Sugar bowl.

Just as important was the fact that it was also while FL and GA were down. Sometimes I think we missed our chance for a while. Very very hard to compete with those two schools when they are pulling in elite classes and have big momentum like they do these days.

Harrison and Wayne get really disrespected tho. Those two were elite WRs no matter who’s throwing them the ball. Wayne had a dominate year With Luck as a rookie at like 35 years old.

Pretty sure Harrison was already a pro-bowler before Manning got there.

No. Had 800 receiving yards his rookie season. Manning arrived the next. May have been all-rookie?

Edit: scratch that...Manning arrived in Harrison’s third season but his yardage high was 866. Didn’t make the Pro Bowl with that.

Hard to believe Brees and Brady, 2 of the GOATs, are done for the year. Already guaranteed to be at least 1 qb make his first super bowl start.
