I feel like they developed many of them though. Belichick has developed players better than anyone has, both sides of the ball. Just think how long they've been taking end-of-round picks. Jerod Mayo (2008) was their last top 15 pick (#10). They've had 1 top-6 pick since 1997...

The Bill or Brady thing seems like a false dichotomy argument. It takes an elite coach and elite qb to be that dominant, for that long.

Agree but Brady has carried them the last few years. I mean he threw for almost 500 yards against the eagles in the SB and lost.

They haven’t drafted a pro bowler since 2013 (Jamie Collins) who isn’t even on their team it’s like Brady got better as he got older and once he really reached this elite level they quit giving him weapons

Brady has had weapons his entire career, this year isn’t the strongest

To be fair, Brady has never had the kind of offensive weapons around him that Manning did at Indy with James, Harrison, Wayne, and Clark. But Manning never had a defense to lean on like Brady did either, except for his last year at Denver. And defense wins championships.

This is true, but Gronk is possibly the best TE in history and he has had great receivers as well. But the real difference is Brady has had defense his whole career.

Yeah, if Brady only had some TE's or slot receivers to throw to...🤔

Yeah I’m not saying Brady has never had any weapons, but those Indy offenses had weapons all over the field. Manning’s problem was that outside of Dwight Freeney, those Indy defenses were almost always doo doo.

Bob Sanders was the key. Sat out almost that entire SB season. After he returned and the D gelled around him, they were the reason for two playoff wins.

It seems like he’s gotten back to what made him successful in the first place.
He threw those meds in the trash and woke TF up. Hope he brings that from day 1 next year. He is much better that way.

Maybe good for his health during the offseason, but we need "more steam Pruitt" for 4 months out of the year.

Imagine being an Ole Miss fan and realizing your team had the two best rookies in the NFL with nothing to show for it.

He was sure fun to watch. Unfortunately, due to build and style of play, it seemed like he was only good for a handful of games a year. Two players do not make a defense either. I also think their brand of cover 2 D was becoming sort of outdated.

For the first half of Brady’s career this is true but There were a couple years in Indy when the colts had arguably the best defense in the nfl. I think it was 2005 when they gave up single digits like 6 times or something like that. They had no business getting bounced by the Steelers in the first round

Took this off the 247 board. Quite the flashback. Not a lot of "hits" over 2 decades. It is all the QBs we've taken since '98:

1999 AJ Suggs
2000 Casey Clausen
2000 John Rattay
2002 James Banks
2002 CJ Leak
2003 Bo Hardegree
2004 Erik Ainge

2005 Jonathan Crompton
2006 Nick Stephens
2007 BJ Coleman
2008 Casey Kelly
2010 Tyler Bray
2010 Matt Simms
2010 Nash Nance

Man, James Banks... one of the best pure athletes we’ve ever had.

2015 Vols (and 2016 to a lesser extent, which was just an even more underachieving version of 2015) is proof to me that you don't necessarily need a bulletproof roster to win. They blew the OU and UF games. Would have beaten Arkansas if they had momentum from winning either of those. Had the lead late vs Bama in Tuscaloosa.

If you have a relatively "complete" roster that's at least top 15 in talent overall with a handful of All-SEC caliber players (and a reliable, playmaking QB), you can beat anyone. It's easier of course if you have Bama/Clemson talent, but it's not 100% necessary. You can get by with less. Can only play 11 at a time.
