It’s like the announcers said last night. He seems to always be late on his throws because he doesn’t anticipate his receivers. He wants to make sure they are where they are supposed to be before he lets it go. This needs to be a major area of improvement between now and September if he wants any chance at winning the starting job.
The 1st INT was on Grey
Okay. His first pass completion was solely on Keyton. Can work both ways.
He should have taken the sack and not just thrown the ball up. Bad blocking didn’t make him throw the pick. It simply sped his notorious poor decision making process up.

again, watch the replay
I'm just curious as to how a bad QB like JG can have the exact same number of TDs through the air as a great QB like Burrow? My point is that JG is not awful as many here say, I certainly don't think JG is great nor do I think he'll have a historical season like Burrow but I believe this one stat alone shows that JG is not as awful as the neverJG crowd says and that he in deed can show improvement again next year.We all know what you were getting at as your buddy K tried to go down same road in this very thread comparing Jg to Burrow.
Don’t be dumb
Maurer is every bit a development QB as JT even more so since he needs 25 lbs added to his frame and I'm on record numerous times saying Bailey will push for the starting position. It'll start out JG and he'll either produce or get replaced and I've always stated it would be with HB. It's clearly evident though that Pruitt is not ready to bail on JG yet and I suspect he values his experience and toughness. You also know deep down that is exactly the way it will likely play out as well, seems like I agree with Coach Pruitt and you don't.I think when we are going into a season with a RS Senior with 2.5 seasons of starting and can’t make a jump forward at the position, it’s time to turn to players who are going to be here for the next 2-3 seasons and let them start building.
1-Brian Maurer will be a sophomore with playing experience, 2 off seasons in the S&C and Chaney’s offense. Con with him is his medical history. His play is what you’d expect from a true freshman- High Risk/High Reward
2-Harrison Bailey is a 4/5 star QB coming out of high school. Chaney has done well with highly ranked true freshmen QB’s. He’s also likely the heir apparent to the program like a “franchise QB” in the pro.
3-JT Shrout will be going thru his 3rd offseason in the S&C, second year with Chaney. Con- still a “developmental player” who at best is a 4 year player. He leaves college football due to graduation, not the NFL draft.
All three of those guys have multiple years left to play at Tennessee and haven’t had experience to establish a baseline.
JG now has 2.5 seasons of around 2000 yards and 15-20 touchdowns all while having a starting win % around 33%.
We know what he brings to the table with one year left in school. We don’t know what the others bring when they have 2-3 years left in school at minimum.
Once again, I could care less how big a hole he dug as long as he led us out of it. I also could care less if we won by 1 or 100. Your woulda coulda shoulda comments are the way kids argue. As for what I can do, I don't have to do anything but sit back and watch what happens. You apparently think JG is gonna be gone and I don't. And your reading comprehension sucks because I've never declared JG to be a great player. As for the stats you conveniently mentioned, JG is consistently ranked 4-6 in nearly every positive stat matrix out there in the conference and BMs stats consistently rank with the bottom 5 of the SEC. Coach Pruitt knows what he's doing with our QB group, you and a few others can moan and groan about it for the next 9 months but unless JG leaves out I'm betting he's QB1 in game 1.The same with a year less starting. It’s called progression. JG has shown us none. It’s convenient how you ignore the fact he is very below average. Bet you have a nude poster of him in your room. You act like he saved the day. Like he deserves praise for a few good throws at the end. The heroic throws shouldn’t have been needed at the end. He solely on his own dig us a hole. He missed multiple TD passes. Not hard passes. Wide open high % passes. He threw a horrid pic 6. I will not praise him for a few dink passes that gray made look good. JG put us in that terribke position all on his own.
Sorry to tell you your love affair with JG is over. You will not see him break out like burrow next year. 1. Because he’s incapable of being even serviceable, let alone a great, Heisman caliber QB. 2. IF he starts it won’t be for long. One of these other QBs will progress or at least show flashes. That’s better than what we have. Maurer didn’t look like a world beater but his stats where better when given an opportunity.
I appreciate JG and I gave him an opportunity for 3 years. He’s not the answer. It’s time to look towards the future. Give the love affair up. Write him a letter or something, I don’t know. But please quit gargling on JG everyday on VN. We all know what he is. JG is just JG. Good luck to him and move on.

And the only reason JG seen the field again was an injury to BM and his freshman mistakes of turning the ball over. He will have an entire winter and spring to fix the turnover issues, will he? I don‘t know but what I do know is JG has had 2 years under Pruitt to fix his issues and he is no better today than he was two years ago.Pruitt only had one qb on the roster coming into the season with playing experience. That’s not the case anymore. He also has two years of starting experience with JG with stats that are nothing to write home about.
The experience factor is no longer a lopsided issue for our QB room. Thank goodness.
And there is nothing definitive to suggest that JG is somehow going to take a giant leap forward. And yes it has to be a giant one. He’s a 3 year starter who’s done nothing significant. Another year of career averages or a “few more yards and touchdowns” won’t cut it.

I have. I did. I will again. Gray’s blocking, or lack thereof, did not force JG to throw the ball. Even the NFL QB commentator Timmy H made note that he has to take the sack and just throw the ball up.
To say a missed/poor block cause him to just the throw the ball away to the other team is asinine. It sped up the time to make a decision and when that happens, JG is gonna JG. He had two awful interceptions and was lucky to not have another. Trying to discount one Is asinine for a player who has showcased his problems for 2.5 years over 25 games.
Okay. His first pass completion was solely on Keyton because any defensive back would have easily picked that off if not for Keyton making a huge play. Even Randy Moss pointed that out prior to the Wild Card game. “Keyton made the play!” Easily works both ways to twist to fit your agenda.
He should have taken the sack and not just thrown the ball up. Bad blocking didn’t make him throw the pick. It simply sped his notorious poor decision making process up.
