Maurer’s Instagram Post

Cannot answer my questions so resort to fallacies? Figures.

JG had the opportunities because he proved he deserved them.

JGs INTs definitely cost points. He was the main QB.

JG is the RS JR that has earned his starts and also the one that led us to 8 wins.
I didnt answer them cuz the were rhetorical....what did he do before the alabama to earn another shot???

They both said it. Announcers all talked about it during several games. They talk with coaches during the week to have things to say on air. One topic has been the team's faith in JG and the team and coaches faith in him being the best chance to win.
Show me or your just recalling from memory ....which is historically biased. Which you are very much

Which had the opportunity???

Whose INT cost more points???

Who is the f'n RSJR with 10 plus starts under his belt????

Come i know the education system is bad but this is sad..
I'm pretty sure "the education system" in the United States teaches that the first-person singular pronoun "I" should be capitalized. I mean, come on, it's not this bad. LOL!

I see this is still going on and the season has ended.

The truth is unless you are the coach that calls the play in the game, you can't really judge the intangibles of how a player is performing. Yes you can see a forced pass, an interception .. blah ... blah ... blah. But you don't know if the QB was given options, if they selected the best option (.... which is always the one the coach would have selected .... ) based on the situation and what happened. You also (unless of course you are one of the coaches or have inside information), don't know what the game plan was and if the original game play is just not working because of something the defense is doing or if it is an execution issue by the team.

In the bowl, game it was obvious that JG and the entire team actually was struggling in the 3rd quarter - both the offense and defense were ineffective. So yes - give BM a chance and see if he can spark something. Yes we scored ... 3 points ... but we were lucky that there was not another pick 6 interception on two of those plays. The odds were high that with BM there would be another interception - he was not crisp nor was he making smart decisions. Thus, you put back in the QB that based on experience is likely to not make the same mistake twice.

Truth is Tennessee's winning streak is because of two things - the defense improved and JG's was able to manage the offensive game plan. JG is not a look at me flashy QB, never has been and never will be. I know many want someone like that ... but sometimes it is not what the team needs to win games.

It is going to be an interesting off season, with yet another high touted QB coming in. I can guarantee who starts at the position next year will be the one that CJP believes gives Tennessee the best chance to win games. And I for one am fine with that - I would rather win games than lose them.

No you didnt answer because it punched a gigantic hole in your narrative. What did he do? Outplayed both other QBs in practice.

Please explain why the other QBs couldn't outright win the starting job and keep it.

So when your argument fails. You attack grammer..thanks for making my point

Excellent post. I am glad someone realizes football is a team sport and requires defense, offense and coaching to be successful.

It is a known fact that coaches and players have said (actually several times) they felt JG gave them the best chance to win games. That is not necessarily a dig at the other two - but more a fact of his ability to manage the offense.

They have said the same thing about BM. Its an interview they wont say anything negative. They will support who is starting..the JJ narrative was started by k-town

How many points did those 2 ints give MSU???

Answer 0

How points did JGs give IU?

Answer 10.

Which had a bigger impact???

Neithet is good period tho
Neither is very good. Some posters are straining to convince others that Maurer played better than he really did. Again, he was given more playing time than most true freshman QB's receive. He had a chance and the results were mixed. That is in no way a defense of Guarantano's play. The bottom line, is that from the Mississippi State game on, Tennessee won all of the games they had a realistic chance to win.

If BM had gone 32-68 for 384 yards and 3 td and 2 ints. Would you have played JG over him??

LOL. Weren't you just attacking someone else's education, just because they disagreed with you over who should be taking snaps at QB for the University of Tennessee's football team? I was matching your silliness, with silliness of my own.

Right. So a random fan, whom is biased, knows whats better for the team then guys who have coached in the NFL and under the unquestioned GOAT of college football.

There is a reason why Pruitt is making millions coaching TN and you arent.

They never said BM was the best qb or gave us the best chance to win. They did say he gave the team a spark for that one moment he played well.

I didn't start any narrative. The reporters and announcers who reported the facts did. It has been well covered.

just because joe schmo kids in his momma basement isnt making millions developing software doesnt mean he might not be better at it then steve jobs..

They didn’t have to say BM was better. The fact that they started him against the best two defenses we faced all year says it all.

Maybe, but the bottom line is that we won the games. I don't think the staff has an easy call at QB right now. Hopefully, Harrison Bailey will change that.

Well to be fair. That was bo nix first 2 starts...he was given the confidence of his coach and had a pretty good season..theres alot to be said for not looking over your shoulder every play waiting to be pulled...but yes in spite of inconsistency we did win. So theres that

Show me one stat that supports anything you have ever said on here.

Go back and watch the last few games. It was discussed. Stop playing dumb.
Ive posted the sats vs top 25 numerous times you just choose to not acknowledge them cuz it hurts your argument....show me where BM got to pad his sats against UAB Chatt, Ga St, BYU, Vandy??

So let me ask you a question. If you have a quarterback that turn the ball over 10 times leading to the opposition scoring 30 plus points. While the other one turned it over half as much and lead to 3 points. Which would you say protected the ball better??

A couple things.

He's thrown half the INTs because he's thrown a 1/4 of the attempts JG has. Statistically he throws INTs twice as frequently as JG. So in that regard JG protects the ball better.

Secondly...is your contention that the defense's ability or inability to prevent the opposition offense from scoring is somehow a reflection on the QBs ability to protect the ball?

That's some GoGo Gadget type stretching right there.

Sometimes I wonder if a majority of the posters on this forum could identify a football in a line up of other athletic equipment.
