OK - enough with the NYD and bowl game hangover. Henry T has gone back to work and so can all of you. ;) Time for the big picture confirmation of what needs to happen between now and the first game of the 2020 season.

2019 season rankings through 1/3/2020
Total O/O Scoring: 100/99
TYPG/TPPG: 365.5/24.2

2018 season
TYPG/TPPG: 325.5/22.8

2019:
Total D/D Scoring allowed: 23/30
TYPG/D Scoring allowed: 334.5/21.7

2018: TYPG/D Scoring allowed: 377.4/27.5

2019: Redzone O/Redzone D 97/57

Records: 2018 = 5-7 2019= 8-5

Draw your own conclusions. Mine are that Chaney made a slight improvement in the O over Helton. The change in the offensive system probably throttled it a bit. It takes more than a year to incorporate a new O. We know the other issue is QB. That was the consistent problem year to year. FWIW, the rushing YPG went from 129.1 to 144.2 this season. The passing YPG went from 196.4 to 221.4. Those increases probably explain the 1.4 PPG increase in team scoring this season. At least it is headed in the right direction. What is not shown is the much worse interception rate from 2018 to 2019, which obviously hurt the O's overall performance and scoring. It didn't help the D's numbers any either.

The major improvement was on D as we know. The starting point was already much better as the total D finished top 50 in 2018. This strongly improved again in 2019. Two years in the same system with players being developed strongly by a highly competent D staff is paying big dividends. Since they did it with inexperienced and unheralded players for the most part we have 100% confirmation of staff competency and the schemes employed.

We have a staff that knows the issues better than we do, so I am encouraged about the trends. It's all on the O and QB selection to move the program forward more. Winning 8 games this season, which we all know could have been 10, when the point differential between O scoring and D points allowed was only 2.5 is strong confirmation of the character and fight within the roster as well as Pruitt and staff finding ways to win. It's also an indicator of missed opportunities to win more games and by larger margins on O. JMO, but solve the issues on O and this team wins at least 2 more games in 2020.

Well, I’ll give you kudos that you have already learned a very important lesson...if your lady is happy, everyone is happy. Make sure you thank @SSVol, because if he hadn’t vouched for you and shown actual pics of you, I would still be believing that you are a troll rival fan.

By the way, did you and your gf leave about midway through the 4th quarter? All I could keep thinking the entire 3rd quarter is that I hope you decide to leave early. Lol!!!

Ooooh yeah learnt that from dad lmao. She's actually moving to Dallas to become a flight attendant in February so I'm trying to spend as much time as possible before then.

Left from section 409 about 10 mins to go in 4th quarter. As us two were exciting and walking to car about a mile away kept hearing cheers. Turned on ESPN on the phone and watched the rest 5 mins of the game with her in her car with no one around so we (as in I.. she knows nothing about football and was laughing at me the whole time but having fun) were screaming and hollering.

who are some Soph's or redshirt frosh that are going to step up in a major way this fall? We need some kids to really make an impact... Simmons?

Chaney was asking JG and Other QBs to do a lot more than Helton was. That’s why JG had a “better” year last year. Helton tried his best to hide JG and it worked some. I remember charting the South Carolina game and JGs total combined air yards for every throw was like 14 yards or something like that. That’s why he never turned the ball over but also why our offense went to sh** the last few weeks too when defenses really started to catch on to it. I do give Helton a ton of credit for moving JJ to the slot full time tho. That changed boosted his career big time.

Everyone knows i wasn’t big on the Chaney hire but in his defense and without being too disrespectful, it’s impossible to put into numbers or statistics just how bad we were at QB this year. He was completely handcuffed so it’s impossible to really give an opinion on our offense this year Bc we were running a ducktape offense of rpos and extremely QB friendly route concepts just hoping our skill guys could make a play (ie Tyler Byrd vs miss state) i really wish Jennings and calloway had one more year with what we hope Bailey is.

He’ll help, but unless Emerson and/or Gooden go down with injury he’s useful depth.
