Maurer’s Instagram Post

A high % of Maurer's passes were RPO's. I think one of the reasons they pulled him from the UK game is that they didn't like his RPO reads... he wants to throw it and UK was giving the run.

Maurer needs things to happen fast right now. He wants to see it and make a play right now. JG wants to take time and wait for someone to break wide open. IMO, Maurer can learn to do what JG does well. I don't think JG will ever learn to do what Maurer does. I don't think he can. That's why they don't throw many RPO's with him.
That’s another issue as well though. People don’t know or don’t understand that Maurer never ran RPOs. So he’s even learning that. To get his full capability RIGHT NOW they’ll have to run a spread. Otherwise give him time and lead way to learn.

And he only had minutes to prepare to enter the game. I am sure the game plan wasn‘t to have him play that series and he only got to go in after JG threw the pick six.
Right.... but let’s be critical of the unprepared freshman going in for the Rs Jr making freshman mistakes (talking about his haters). I don’t get it.

Considering it was Indiana and both hit them right in the hands, those are INT's against SEC teams, easily. Maurer is a fine backup, but if you want to reach the level of Bama/UGA/LSU in this league, you need Harrison Bailey type talent.
I agree. None of the teams in the playoffs really have game managing quarterbacks. Unless Maurer makes tremendous strides in the offseason then I’m all for giving bailey the keys to the offense next season

Sure wish he’d stay, but QB room getting pretty crowded. If he leaves best of luck!

We held the safety on that play and got away with it or he would have jumped that route..
Here is pefect shot of BMs completion.....safety in which u speak of is 6 yards short of Palmer...so not a misread but a good throw. And oh yea he was waving Palmer that way.

So its no surprise you couldn't recognize a prevent D... you should really stop posting its getting embarrassing!

Admit it ... next year when the new QB recruit is here, if they play any of the others but him, some of you will pick any mistake apart. It is what you do! It could be the reincarnation of Peyton Manning and you would want the back up to play.

I didn’t realize that throw was that far downfield. Smh at anyone that can’t see the potential that’s slapping them in the face.

“OMG! He IS awesome other me!”
“Thank you, also me, I thought I...I mean you would appreciate it! Being brilliant and virile as a show pony as you are!”
“I’m jealous of me...us!”
“You...I mean me too!”

That poor ISP. 😔

It is the inconsistency. He is not ready.
No one is denying that. However there are a few claiming him inaccurate. The argument is If JG is making the same mistakes as you expect from a freshman and said freshman will never BE ready without game reps, what’s the upside to sticking with the junior when the junior clearly isn’t ready either?

I know myself i dont have expectations for players with little experience....i do for 4 year college players and 3 yr starters

Our Quarterbacks are mediocre at best. Downright awful sometimes. Development has been slow. Not sure if it’s the coaches or the players.

Wish we’d find a gem out there!

My opinion is that we have had Chaney for a year. JG has had way too many coaches, Shrout was Heltons project if I remember correctly? Maurer is a true freshman and not all true freshman play well enough consistently to take the reigns. It takes time for players to settle into systems especially when your starter has seen over 4 different coordinators.

He's got too much potential to sit behind JG another year with Harrison Bailey coming in as well.

Especially with a staff ,that at the moment, is not very adept at developing QBs.
bwahaahahahaaaa! Sure he does! When was this shown? the 3pts vs florida?

Anyone else see his post on Instagram? He posted a picture with a trophy that said God Bless but in small writing it said, “new journey ahead.” Interesting. What are your thoughts?

I think he shouldn't of throw what should been 2 pics on one drive!!! He would have played rest of game had he not shown hes not grown any over course of year with bad choices. I really think bailey wins job outright next year

That was a great throw in the run. Not many Qb’s make that throw.

Look, I’m not saying JG is great but Maurer is not a panacea. He is seriously flawed and as a coach scares the h*** out of me. I still contend that Shrout is the most physically talented qb on the roster but JG is the overall best shot at winning. Maybe next fall that will change.
i agree as well with everything u said!

That is a throw JG cannot make for sure. Those type throws are the reason he was given a chance and the two near picks are what is kept him from winning the job out right.

Had BM not gotten injured JG may not have seen the field again this season. I do not think he was the same QB after the hit in the Bama game and I am not sure anyone could blame him for being gun shy.

Wonder what Fields at Ohio St. would say about that, or Burrows at Lsu. Neither were given a chance where they transferred from. Lots of good coaches appear to not be very good at evaluating qb talent. Trask at Fla. only playing because of injury. You can't expect any qb to be thrown in a game with just limited preparation time for the game and expect them to do well. No qb on ut roster were given a real chance to succeed except jg. Maurer comes in last night, led the team to a fg, on his only series and gets pulled.
Lol. I’m sorry but Maurer isn’t Fields or Burrows.
