Maurer’s Instagram Post

Honestly... I just don't see that concerning CJP.

If you saw how the season went... you saw a coach willing to pull a RS Jr "established" starter and give a true Fr a chance. That won't hurt recruiting.
I hope not...i of course never thought BM got a chance. He played well enough against KY to finish but was pulled...

IMO, he wasn't playing well. I don't know what would have happened if he'd stayed in. He needs to rebuild his confidence though.
afyer he settled he was 50% passing for 100 yards in a quarter...and rushed for another 10. I think... not bad. But definitely showed promise.

I don't think it is that. I think you have two different QB's in JG and BM. A gameplan for JG doesn't work well for BM right now. There are things BM has mastered. A game plan for BM doesn't work for JG. JG seems incapable of making quick decisions or anticipating throws.

The difference between the two IMO is that Maurer can still master the parts JG is good at with work.
This is what I was saying last night the moment BM went in. If Chaney only brought one game plan it was tailored to JG not BM and therefore means BM was unprepared. They are both too different to be #1 and #2. JG needs safe and bunched formations where BM needs aggressive and spread out to maximize their success.

And he only had minutes to prepare to enter the game. I am sure the game plan wasn‘t to have him play that series and he only got to go in after JG threw the pick six.

You know this from the exactly 0 snaps Bailey has taken at the college level? Anointing him the next Peyton Manning before he has even played a down is absolutely absurd.
Where did I say anything about anointing HB as the next PM? I said he has the talent skill level that if developed is the kind of player you need if you want to get into the area of having a shot at winning the division. BM is a backup talent in the SEC and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their roles to play.

A high % of Maurer's passes were RPO's. I think one of the reasons they pulled him from the UK game is that they didn't like his RPO reads... he wants to throw it and UK was giving the run.

Maurer needs things to happen fast right now. He wants to see it and make a play right now. JG wants to take time and wait for someone to break wide open. IMO, Maurer can learn to do what JG does well. I don't think JG will ever learn to do what Maurer does. I don't think he can. That's why they don't throw many RPO's with him.

JG did play well after though. Maybe that's the key. Maybe UT needs to get the opponent to gameplan for someone else... and that allows JG to "succeed".
I said earlier he played his best when we needed him most. I respect him for that but I think 8 wins is the ceiling with him as our starter. Maybe he turns the corner this off season and wins the Heisman next year and if he does I will be the first to say I was wrong.

If Wienke couldn't do any better with JS, HB or JG what in the hell makes you think he's going to do something with HB?

Putting all of your hopes into a true freshman is a recipe for letdown.
Again, I'm looking at his talent level that can be developed. He has more tools and skills than BM and if they can be developed then that is a huge starting point at getting back toward the top of the league. BM and JShrout get us to 7-8 wins. Tops.

He's a true Fr who challenged an established RS Jr for the starting job on moxie and raw talent. If he chooses to transfer then I wish him well.... but why would he? Anyone who believes JG is invincible at this point needs their head checked.
Nobody thinks JG is invincible...we just don’t fully trust Pruitt to bench JG unless things turn into a complete dumpster fire.

maybe. Idk.
What did you think about the final drive being all wildcat??? I ask because your pretty impartial

You must be one hell of a QB talent evaluator.

Pretty much hate the wildcat UT ran this year. It wasn't very effective. JJ made it look better than it was. Posted just now that I wish Crouch were a full time RB. A big head buster like him would have sealed that game.

Do you know him? Have you sat with the coaches evaluating him? Or like the rest of us... have you just seen a few games and highlight videos?

He has good physical talent. He will probably be the slowest QB in the room in spite of working on his speed. He has never competed against the level of competition he's about to face.

I sincerely don't care who emerges... only that someone give us something MUCH better than we've gotten from JG. But I think you're getting ahead of yourself with HB.

How does Bergen Catholic ( JGs HS) match up against HB high school???

Think it said anything about trust in JG?

You haven't read the posts from k-town_king, lexkyvol, or even PulaskiVol... have you? There may be a few others. But the first two especially will not admit JG is a flawed QB.

That's hard to say. I think JG is a liability as a passer. But he has become pretty good at managing the run game. If I had to guess, I'd say they thought they saw something in IU's front that could allow them some success in the wildcat. I would have put Crouch and the goal line O in and hit them with a battering ram.

Ill admit im not a JG guy....once in the wild cat. Ok...but 3x. I felt like they didnt want him to change the play...but your right without being in CJP head we cant really know

Someone said, for qb to do better ol had to improve, is what I was responding to. This year its not the ol that is problem with any of our qb
O-line was greatly improved but not enough to be training a true freshman QB behind as proved by our inability to push the ball in from the red zone at various times. We need a strong running game and plenty of pass protection to develop a QB. We’re getting there, but still aren’t elite yet. Lot of young talent developing and coming in that’ll remedy that.
