Maurer’s Instagram Post

He's a true freshman with a buttload of raw talent. A good QB coach could do a lot for him.
He will be a serviceable backup.

If you want to win 7 games, start Maurer. If you want to have a shot at winning championships then develop talents like Harrison Bailey.

So your already to throw in on a 4* freshman who has yet to throw a pass???
But not support your current freshman....thanks CJP for revealing yourself

The prevent defense is a defensive alignment in American football that seeks to prevent the offense from completing a long pass or scoring a touchdown in a single play and seeks to run out the clock.

The prevent defense uses five or more defensive backs.

The had 5 DBs. And only rushed 3 or 4 and immediately went deep so as not to give up the long pass...hmmm the very definition of prevent
Good Lord, 3 rushing leaves 2 Lbs and 6 Dbs or 3 Lbs and 5 Dbs. This would allow for
the defense to cover 3 receivers man and two safeties over the top or 4 receivers man and 2 safeties over the top.THE PREVENT COVERS NO ONE MAN TO MAN. IU was in man coverage the whole game.

I don‘t think we have seen enough of him to establish he would only win 7 games but to each his own.

Yes after we hit the short hot route several times JC scripted that and JG executed...but once they stopped, so did the passing game....sorry for the wiki. I figured going into the differences in coverage was overkill...not being a jerk at all
????????

It appears jg will start as long as he is here, or if he doesn't start he knows he will play at least half a game. Regardless of how well any of the other qb do. Just my opinion based on how it was handled this year. If you notice when Maurer went in, afterward we scored 2 td which we had not done in 3 qtrs of play; and Maurer did get a fg, in maybe 3 minutes of play. Anyone other than jg at the first sign of a mistake comes out of the game.
If someone takes the job from him then they'll get the job. Maybe JG is the "default". He has the most experience. It isn't up to Pruitt to give the job to someone else. It is up to someone else to claim it.

I like Maurer. But I wouldn't have left him in either after those two bad throws. He's got to learn to go through progressions and stop forcing the ball in. He puts the ball in danger too often. Very typical for a Freshman with limited playing time... but something he has to overcome if he wants to take the job.

I don't like it when JG cultists spin everything in his favor. I don't like the spin in favor of BM any better. At one point he had played well enough to take the job away from JG. He got hurt and hasn't been the same guy since. He needs to work on his game and seize the job.

How many times did he execute properly vs times he didn't execute. I guess his 18 competitions for 220 yards were all just luck or maybe it was just our other guys bailing him out on those 18 plays? He looked like he executed pretty well going 6-9 for 91 yards down the stretch when we had to have good QB play and execution.
You just can't blame the coaches when he misses open WRs. Like missing JJ for a pick 6. How is that Chaney's fault. You could tell by Hasselbeck's comments and analysis that he definitely missed throws by being late. I have no problems with JG. I just don't like posters who blame coaches when the player didn't execute- read CJP's comments.

Yes, just watched the second throw to Grey underneath. IU brought 5 and were in man coverage.

On the first pass to Grey, they brought 4, and I'm not as clear on the coverage.

They also appeared to be in man coverage on Jennings' first catch.

True. A missed field goal that should have been buttered bread for the lead with barely two minutes left took care of the outcome of that game. Barring a kick return TD, that field goal, made, would have ended that game.
It was a 52 yarder and he was a kicker that missed a PAT, that's hardly a buttered bread kick.

Well that is on the coaches, if he doesn't know the offense. I think pruitt prefers a game manager qb rather than one who throws the ball and has some to but will put u in a much better position to win more games. Pruitt is a defensive minded coach, and knows how it effects the defense with an offensive to. Yes Maurer will throw more int. because he throws downfield much more, but given game expierence will be a great qb.
I don't think it is that. I think you have two different QB's in JG and BM. A gameplan for JG doesn't work well for BM right now. There are things BM has mastered. A game plan for BM doesn't work for JG. JG seems incapable of making quick decisions or anticipating throws.

The difference between the two IMO is that Maurer can still master the parts JG is good at with work.

I think BMs issue goes back to high school. If im understand correctly (i may be wrong) but his high school team wasnt very good and played from behind alot....this causes QB to force things....i think he default to that style of play....i may be wrong

If Wienke couldn't do any better with JS, HB or JG what in the hell makes you think he's going to do something with HB?

Putting all of your hopes into a true freshman is a recipe for letdown.

A 52 yard field goal, that would have been his career longest, isn’t exactly buttered bread. And with the way Tennessee was clicking & had the momentum in the last 5 minutes, there was a good chance they could have easily moved into field goal range within 2 minutes.

He looked to be playing scared and trying to get the ball out a little faster than he should. IMO, that's a MUCH easier problem to resolve than someone who is MUCH too slow like JG.

You know this from the exactly 0 snaps Bailey has taken at the college level? Anointing him the next Peyton Manning before he has even played a down is absolutely absurd.

Exactly he defaulted to force things to bring his team back....i hope he stays. But i fear he will transfer. CJP is burning bridges and recruits talk and they saw how this season went...ill bet HB was promised something more then a shot starting

Honestly... I just don't see that concerning CJP.

If you saw how the season went... you saw a coach willing to pull a RS Jr "established" starter and give a true Fr a chance. That won't hurt recruiting.
