JG just can’t play good

Unless he comes off the bench. It is the craziest thing that I just can’t wrap my head around.
Agree. Can’t stomach the inconsistency. Can’t win in the SEC with him.

Bottom line is that we simply can’t move forward with him as our QB. We know what he is football-wise and we’ll never win at the level we need to with him at QB. Good kid, tell him thanks and that he needs to move on. Develop the other QBs we’ll have on the roster, each who have higher ceilings and higher floors.

Yet with those stats, LSU went 9-4 with 4 wins over ranked opponents (#8 Miami, #7 Auburn, #2 Georgia, #22 Mississippi State)

Somehow comparing JG's 3 years of mediocrity to 1 year of Burrow's first season of starting is absurd. Burrow actually made a jump in a calendar year..... JG has played the same in 20+ starts over 3 seasons. And once again, there is zero proof that he can make that jump all while losing 3 of our top 4 receiving targets..... They made JG look good more than JG made them look good.

Imagine a world where someone tries to equate JG to Joe Burrow in any fashion. Truly amazing stuff.

Wow they one more game than we won this year. Like I said very similar. Lets not act like LSU didn't have much more talent either. They did.

And those "ranked" teams included 7-6 Miami, 8-5 Aub who Jg beat and played better against, and 8-5 MSU.

So he beat one good team really. Or lets hype Aub and talk about how JG was even better last year.

You are wishing that he fails like you have been.

Realistically he had a year like Burrow last year. Facts are facts.

Real fans hope he breaks out next year, not fail and we lose but their choice plays.

So you would have said that about Burrow too? Same exact situation and stats pretty much and Burrow had more help as a rs Jr.

I'm not convinced JG comes back.

If you know your playing days aren't going to extend past college and you've already graduated and your two best WRs are leaving.....

I don't even pretend to know what he's thinking but if he sits down and has this conversation with his parents then he may decide to not risk getting his head caved in for nothing and just get a job.

Also JG had 8 wins this year. Not three

No he didn’t. They don’t count if you didn’t start the game. Even JJ has a win because he started the first play of the game. It may not be fair, but it is what it is.

Do you think JG will have a season next year like Burrow did this year? Burrow has had a historic year. As far as stats go it is probably been the best season by a QB in college football history.

I've been as critical of JG as anyone, but next year will be the first time he's returned to the same offense. The kid has had 4 offensive coordinators.

Hopefully his timing will improve, which should help his accuracy, but I'm not holding my breath. I think there's a very real chance that Harrison Bailey is eventually named the starter this year.

Facts are facts and JG has had 3 seasons to flip the switch and make a jump as a QB. He hasn’t. Meanwhile you’re comparing him to Burrow who made the jump in one year with a supporting cast that returned with him.

But please, let’s keep living in fantasy land.

All while returning one starter in Palmer.... some things that combination is gonna result in JG being the next Joe Burrow

Yeah, the Joe Burrow compares are a little much. There may never be a "next Joe Burrow". He's the best college QB I've ever seen.

Last year was Burrow’s first year of starting. This year was JG’s 3rd. There is nothing to suggest he is somehow gonna make a giant leap. Burrow actually did. JG hasn’t for two seasons in a row.

Second year by amount of games started. He wasn't a full three year starter. Stop manipulating the narrative.

Same amount of time in o. Same year. Same stats.

They don't list wins under qb stats for college. The qb who was responsible gets the credit. Not who takes the token first snap.

JG won 8 this year if we are counting "qb wins."

I don't think he will match one fo the greatest seasons ever.

It should give us hope that JG will be good next year. They pretty much had mirror rs JR years.

No. JG has started for 3 seasons. His shortest year of starting was still 50% of the season in 2017. He has done nothing to show he has grown in any facet of the game. You swore as gospel last year about his passing and Interceptions.... That trend reversed this year. AKA he is inconsistent. We have 3 different seasons to look at the numbers. The fact is there is no future where UT wins a lot of games in 2020 with JG returning as starter all while replacing 3 of our top 4 receiving targets.

But please, lets keep living in fantasy land where JG is going to be the Joe Burrow of the 2020 season.

When are y'all going to learn that the self-proclaimed King is just a spammer? He's just one of those guys who gets off on being contrarian. It makes him feel powerful and intelligent to get under people's skin. He doesn't actually believe the crap he's spewing.

Hopefully HB has the IT and JG stas around for leadership and experience off the Bench.
If HB shows IT) in Spring/Summer start him vs Charlotte and have JG in wings if he gets in trouble next game on road vs Oklahoma.

This quarterback room is going to be dysfunctional until Jarrett is gone from it. Hard to say, but that's just the reality. Harrison will have a tough time getting going with the shadow of JG and his entitlement looming over the locker room. All parties need a fresh start, including Jarrett.

He has literally improved each year.

Higher ypa, more yards, more tds, higher qb rating each year. Steady progression.

JG is the best chance to win. We saw it last night. When HB arrives that may change. Those are just the facts.

The kid deserves credit for fighting through adversity. He played terrible, got booed, and dragged through the mud. Fans shouldn't be so cruel to the young man that gave his all for Tennessee. With that being said, his all isn't good enough and I'm going to loose my **** if he starts next year. Son if you truly care about this program, TRANSFER.

Go back and look at the play that started his period of bad play. The OL left a gap and Gray ran by and did not pick up the blitzer that hit JG’s arm that ended up being their first 3 points. Saw it on rerun this morning. Really plain. I would guess Gray should have protected rather than continue route out of backfield.

I’m done beating up on JG.

However, the coaches have 9 months to develop a QB other than JG for next season. I’d suggest they get to work on that right away.
Yes, and the first and best way to do it is to tell Guarantano to move on and let the other kid’s step up and flourish. If they know the competition is rigged, that JG is gonna be the starter or is gonna play the majority of the game no matter what, then their development will be hindered.

JG simply cannot play, move him along and let Maurer, Shrout, Hill and Bailey see that it truly is a fair QB competition and that if they compete and win the job that they’ll play. It’s been anything but that this entire year since Pruitt came out and announced prior to the season that every single job at every position was open....EXCEPT for Guarantano at QB.

Guarantano has to eat that ball rather than make a high school freshman mistake of throwing that ball right to the defender and gifting Indy their first 3 points. No, it wasn’t blocked, yes he was under pressure immediately, which is all the reason why a legit 4 year college qb should’ve immediately known to eat the ball, take the sack and not give the other team a golden opportunity to score and take the momentum of the game.
