All the ups and downs and the 57-minute disaster that yesterday was, there’s still a lot of talent and great coaching on this team. Beat Ga State and hold on to a single play against BYU, and Tennessee just won its 10th game last night, finishing 10-3.

That’s encouraging after watching JGs hot garbage week in and week out and watching JP continue to trot him as if he should get the same courtesy and benefit of a bad game like Tom Freakin Brady. Imagine when we have an actual QB taking snaps.....

“JP continuing to trot him” makes it sound like there was another option. I think they gave JT and BM plenty of opportunities to prove they could take the job and neither ever panned out to be as consistent as they needed to be because they’re young and inexperienced.

The media is predicting the O to take a step back next season because of all the losses, but honestly if we can get good, not even great but good, quarterback play, then we can probably take a step forward. However that would likely require JG to improve as I’ve never been wild about throwing a true freshman QB to the wolves.

Who do you think should’ve played qb yesterday?

Should've, could've would've. If we had won the first two games that doesn't mean the rest of the season plays out the same. The team could have thought they were better than they were and not played with a chip on their shoulder. Maybe lessons learned from the first two games is what helped turn the season around.

I can't wait for football season to start.

Go Vols!

I think Harrison Bailey could take over at quarterback by midseason

Honestly I think it’s wide open going into offseason. Had JG finished this season with a big bowl game (300+ yards / 3+ TD’s), I would say he solidified his starting job. After 25 games, Pruitt has surely seen enough to know there is no future where Pruitt wins a lot of games next year with JG at QB1. He also will have a somewhat experienced sophomore QB next year who has two years in the S&C program

You could be right with the way JG has played and if Brian Maurer and or JT Shrout transfers out

I said during UT's Late season run that those two losses would stick in our craw. Looking at 9-3 And 10-3, IF this team had been PREPARED . Makes you wonder what was going on in all those August Practices; since both Ga St and Byu were better prepared. YES; they turned the season around, but should have been on a roll instead of in a hole. That's just the Truth.

coaching staff has given JG all the chances to succeed and with some "never give up" attitude we pulled another one out of the fire...that won't work next year...JG will have to make a better showing if he wants to be the starting QB next year...lots of good competition coming in and the coaches have aged five years playing JG...they're ready for a "real starter" to come in and take over...:D

GO BIG ORANGE!

JG is continually late seeing plays develop. That and he has no touch on the ball. I think he is what he is and it's not going to get much better with him. We can win games with him and he'll also lose us a few. What he did last night is leave the door open for another open QB competition and the wrath of the fans when he starts to screw up again. He'll probably transfer out is my guess. You can't blame him if he does.. Fresh start may be good for him, but he'll be on a new coordinator for the 5th time in 5 years. Not sure he wants to go through with that. He can always stay and be our relief pitcher. He seems to do well in that role. Not so much in a starting role.

This is possible and I think every Vol fan thinks it would be for the best. But I think it’s unlikely anyone other than Tan-O starts the season

Edit: I’m not excited about that but CJP is going to do what he wants and doesn’t care what we think. He seems to want Tan-o to play.

I'm a firm believer that Bailey will start from day 1 but the Holiday recruit might, could surprise us all with his ability to run and pass and be a sleeper in the QB competition. With RPO's being so prevalent in today's college game he will be a nice option to have. GBO !!!

GOD, I hope JG moves on. Enough is enough..

I agree. If Maurer came in and made plays, he'd have stayed in. BM threw three passes which legitimately should have been interceptions...on ONE drive. Kudo's for JG finally getting with it, but he's pure torture to watch when he's not "on".

At some point, some QB's got to come in and just take the job. Maybe don't look past the Maryland transfer either. Folks could be sleeping on him...and has been with the team long enough to learn the play book.

We lose a lot of really good playmakers, so next season will be a challenge for us the first half of the season.
