Best onside kick ever!

There's something positive to be said for a coach who can sense where their team is with respect to score and time, and make a decision to win or lose with the ball in their hands. Pruitt decided to go for the onside kick and it worked. I'm more excited about him choosing to give the team a chance to get the win, than I am anything else about that sequence (even if it had failed).

I told my 8yr old an onside kick was coming and he asked me what that was. I really didnt think he would do it until it happened! That was executed to perfection!

That onside kick totally caught me off guard and it was super smooth. I didn't think Pruitt had it in him.

I’ll look forward to watching it. It happened during the period where I went outside to scream, throw things and let out some steam. Was pleasantly surprised to see us with the ball when I came back in.

It was really risky because if it failed it put them really close to fg territory and that would have pretty much iced it. Very glad it worked!

I just remember all the failed onside kicks last year. This team has grown up big time in terms of execution. Future is bright.

I was literally screaming at my TV that the onside was just there for the taking.

College only? I think I've seen NFL players recover and run it for a TD
You’ve probably seen the receiving team snag an onside kick attempt and run it back. That’s happened several times.

Shouldn't be a surprise. We kicked several unexpected ones last year that were nearly recovered in games where we were completely outmanned.

I like that we have an aggressive defensive coach that will take smart gambles(unlike Smart) where the odds are better. Also like that he wants a high powered passing game to go with a strong running game.

He has all the traits to be a great coach h here....just needs to catch some breaks to fast track things.
Successful timely gambles can change momentum, but I really question all the going for it on 4th down in the red zone especially early in games. Tradition says take the 3 points. If you have a solid D then you don’t have to score a td every possession. Would have been a different game tonight with 9 points at half.

I thought he might do it, but that was as good of an onsides kick I have ever seen. I saw one in Atlants whrn a team tried one against the Falcons and an front line player for Atlanta caught it and returned it for a T D

Eric Gray was the MVP of the game as far as I'm concerned. He's looking every bit like our #1 RB right now and that was one of the most beautiful and perfectly executed onside recoveries I've seen.
He is our future at RB.

I still do not agree with it, because it left IU with all kinds of time on the clock; luckily our D bowed their necks two times.

So if you have the choice instead of UT ball at mid-field, you would choose to give it to IU on their 25 with 4 minutes left because we might score too quickly? Laugh out loud
