I personally don't want Bo Davis, we're just now starting to get back on our feet and I really don't want the NCAA given a reason to be up our backside.

Bryan McClendon is a huge get if possible and Frank Wilson would be good too.
Football Scoop reported about a week ago that McClendon would be retaining his $1 million salary (from OC) as a wide receivers coach as long as he was part of the SC program, so I don't think he would be realistic at this time.

I don't even basketball any more and even I disagree strongly.
I'm at least aware that much of our talent being gone was a bit of a surprise.

That and TN wasn't a BB school and hired a coach that was supposedly just going out to pastor. So yeah, the talent didn't flock here immediately. But then reality happened and he seems to have them lining up now.
Am I wrong about that?

1 contributor in 2 Signing classes isn’t about talent not flocking or TN not being a basketball school. It’s roster mismanagement to have only one body on the team from 2 years of recruiting.

I give Barnes a pass on talent leaving early. With that much success it will happen. However, you combine talent leaving early with this mismanagement and you get what we have today. I put the roster mismanagement on the coaches.

It was not an easy turn around lol. No doubt they had good talent, but that UF roster he inherited was not on the level of the one Smart inherited. What he’s done in two years is very impressive.

Does UF not have a board where you can stroke Mehlen?

Seent and liked for cleverness.

But they led the NFL in total offense and yards per play. Dak had nearly 5000 yards passing with 30/11 TD/INT ratio. He was 4th in the league in QBR. I’m not sure how much better a system can fit him.

Dak had a good year stats wise (as he should Bc he’s got a top 3 supporting cast on offense imo) but when you look at his games against teams with good defenses he looked like a totally different player And basically lost all of them because they were asking him to throw the ball down field so much this year and that’s not his strength. Dak had the 5th highest avg intended air yards on his throws (the guys in front of him were Jameis, stafford, Josh Allen, tannehill, and Russel Wilson.... all guys with bazookas). Dak doesn’t have as good of an arm as those guys. He also ran the ball the least he has since he’s been in the league. It’s not really his fault but i think they tried to become to dependent on dak like the Seahawks have with Russell and it just didn’t work.

Since they went 8-8 and basically every team they lost to has either good defensive personnel or an actual good defense , looking at his splits between Wins and losses are staggering.

Wins: (giants x2, skins x2, phins, Eagles*, lions, [rams **zeke & pollard had 250yds and dak completeled 15 passes**])
180/255 69.8% 2375yds 22TD 4Int 120rtg

Losses: ( saints, packers, jets*, Vikings, pats, bills, bears, eagles)
208/338 61.5% 2527yds 8TD 7Int

It’s like the more they tried to rely on dak, the worst they played.

Yeah, absolutely nothing. Right. Took UF from 4 to 10 wins in year one. Wins 11 and a second consecutive New Years Six in year two. If that’s “absolutely nothing”, then sign me up. I’d kill to have back to back seasons like that.
Come on you should know better. That wasnt a 4 win team. Butch would have won around 7 games with them in mehlen's first year

We signed a really good class so far. Got a stud QB and some speedy WRs for him to throw to. A couple of big OL guys to develop. We have some really nice additions on the DL. Bailey and Thomas may push for playing time early next year. We also got some talent in the LB room and some nice DBs as well.

Any other additions are icing on the cake at this point.

That first year turnover put Barnes behind the 8-ball a bit. Year 1 he had a total of 8 players depart. 4 of them all from the same 2014 class (Owens, McGhee, Carmichael, Bonds) not exactly great talent...Martin/Donnie did a piss poor job recruiting during their time here.

Barnes' first class 2015: Turner, Alexander, Kasongo, Phillips, Admiral
second class 2016: Bowden, Parker, Grant, Fulkerson, Jalen, Bone
third class 2017: Pons, Walker, Kent, Darrington
(116th) fourth class 2018: Burns
(31st) last class 2019: JJJ, Olivier, Pember, Gaines, Plavsic, Bailey

Unfortunately 2017 & 2018 were as you pointed out bad classes in retrospect. Ideally it would have been nice to have kept Walker (he was producing) and then gotten another 1 or 2 guys in that 2018 class that were still on the team. To be fair though Kasongo, Phillips, Parker did nothing at their next stops. Darrington & Burns are the only two thus far to have produced at their new schools. So he's not been that bad at weeding out the bad eggs, just wish he was doing it BEFORE they ate up a scholarship and wasted a spot on the team.

Exactly why he didn't get that big new contract either as of yet. I think Jerry is about to put that decision on whomever the new coach hire is...I will be surprised if Dak gets paid in Dallas.

That UF team that won 4 games had tons of NFL talent. Mullen is a good coach but he walked into a kirby-type situation. It was easy to turn that thing around

Come on now. Kirby type situation is really pushing it. The year before Kirby UGA won 10 games. Eason committed to richt already so he had a elite QB prospect already in the bag not to mention Chubb,Michelle, Roquan Smith, isaiah Wynn, etc

The offenses both walked into are not even close, Georgia’s offensive personnel left over was loaded. Kirby is so bad it took him 2 years to actually use Mecole Hardman 😂.

I still give Kirby they edge on the defense he inherited But Florida did had some good players left over from donkey.
