Lol VQ...Rob called some posters malcontents and told them to "get over yourselves" in a recent article for being harsh on Barnes. Now there's no fewer than 6 threads about it. Like being in high school over there. Just there for the el oh els.
What is there to be harsh on Barnes over this season? We lost a ton, what were people expecting?

My biggest complaint is recruiting misses/roster mismanagement. Barnes has a period of two full recruiting classes and only Pons to show for it. Everyone else from those classes is now gone. It would be nice to have more bodies at this point.

Yeah I get that, his "fat camp" isn't for everyone, and unfortunately until this last NBA draft he hadn't produced any results for recruits to feel it was worth it.

I really thought Walker and/or Burns both were going to stick. Walker especially he seemed to fit in well with the team chemistry still not sure what happened there.

Hrm...

He one of these "unnoticed" gems that's going to get hot right before NSD when people try to fill out their board? Or is he a PWO candidate?

If he's really 6'4" and pushing 220 he's not far off on the size of a good edge guy.
OV’ing to FSU January 31st. I read he had 17 sacks this season on one of their boards.

If you just looked at their stats and roster talent, it is mystifying as to how the Cowboys could have not made the playoffs. When you look at the division they’re in it makes you want to tear your hair out if you are a Cowboys fan.

I think they just run a really archaic offense that Dak doesn’t do well in. I look at Lamar Jackson and see what Greg Roman is doing with him and it’s the reason why he’s so successful, just like Colin Kaeperknick and even Tyrod Taylor was.

Even if you don’t think Garrett is a bad coach, it’s time for a change of scenery for both parties. Similar to philly and Andy Reid but Reid had more success than Garrett did.

2 years and zero trips to Atlanta...

The last coach went to Atlanta back to back years and they found a way to send him packing in year 3.
Mullen and Donkey aren’t in the same league. And I don’t think Donkey is really that bad tbh. Mullen is about to have that thing humming down there IMO.

And I don’t know anything about the level of competition there, but 80 tackles, 22 TFL, and 17 sacks isn’t bad lol. Seems more like a guy whose senior tape stood out on got him on the staff’s radar.

I'm surprised he isn't already. Has done absolutely nothing so far
Yeah, absolutely nothing. Right. Took UF from 4 to 10 wins in year one. Wins 11 and a second consecutive New Years Six in year two. If that’s “absolutely nothing”, then sign me up. I’d kill to have back to back seasons like that.

I don't even basketball any more and even I disagree strongly.
I'm at least aware that much of our talent being gone was a bit of a surprise.

That and TN wasn't a BB school and hired a coach that was supposedly just going out to pastor. So yeah, the talent didn't flock here immediately. But then reality happened and he seems to have them lining up now.
Am I wrong about that?

But they led the NFL in total offense and yards per play. Dak had nearly 5000 yards passing with 30/11 TD/INT ratio. He was 4th in the league in QBR. I’m not sure how much better a system can fit him.

It’s on Barnes. He doesn’t get a pass if this team misses the tournament. Can’t pull the stunt he did last year with UCLA combined with the pay raise and not expect to take heat.

That UF team that won 4 games had tons of NFL talent. Mullen is a good coach but he walked into a kirby-type situation. It was easy to turn that thing around

Yes, I’m not sure it was a system issue. They struggled in the redzone in some games, and their defense didn’t make plays at key times. In hindsight, the sad thing is they just had to beat the Jets to get to the playoffs. I learned years ago that every game in the NFL counts because there is a small margin to get in the playoffs.

It was not an easy turn around lol. No doubt they had good talent, but that UF roster he inherited was not on the level of the one Smart inherited. What he’s done in two years is very impressive.

Burns was a good get at the time, and we were able to redshirt him. Something happened there. Either work ethic, attitude, or something.

This year was always going to be a transition year, and now you know why they were upset at losing Plavsic’s waiver. Just have to development the young guys. I think the development of Gaines and JJJ to add to next year’s recruits will be fun to watch.

So, what are you going to do? Fire him? Because that makes sense.

Sure, it doesn’t look good, and he would tell you that. But he isn’t going anywhere, and next year will be fun.

But people live to complain.
