K. So 3 of the 4 were transfers. But we’re not interested. I get it

Difference of opinion. Most grad transfer QB's are not exceptional. That's the reason they transfer. We don't need that when we have a senior QB or a 4 star true freshman QB. I would take experience in the system (JG) or development (HB) over a grad transfer unless (as butchna said) Lawrence or Fields wanted to come to UT.

Are we sure shrout and JG will be at UT next year? I’m not. I think HB is elite. But always want experience and depth at that position

JG helped us win more games than Maurer. Still don’t get the hype around him
Freshmen QB who was not ready only being 150 pounds and was thrown in against our toughest defenses... Still threw for two TDS against Georgia. He will be very good once he puts some weight on and develops more.

I rarely venture into OT/The Pub forums, but I have to wonder what the story behind that "OWH's topic that never dies" thread is. It's pages and pages of people simply saying "good morning" or posting day to day minutiae of everyday life. It's slightly trance-inducing to read...morning...morning...morning...morning there's something catchy about it.
The original threads were started by orange+white=heaven who passed away a few years ago.

If you ever want another spot to say hey, come here OWH's Topic That Will Never Die XXIII .

Scott, aka Orange+White=Heaven, aka OWH, is probably one of the most beloved posters this site has ever seen. We lost him a few years ago, but the Topic threads were his. He loved saying hello in the mornings, and knowing the peeps that he kept up with in those threads were like family.

Cool, then WHO are you talking about? You just keep saying "grad transfer" like they are all Wilson or Hurts. Who do you have in mind, to bring in for a single season to be a backup and burn a scholarship that could have went to, I don't know THE WALK-ON QB ALREADY ON CAMPUS?!?!

I think most are probably in agreement in a roundabout sort of way.

- If a top flight, heisman caliber grad transfer is available and is actually interested in us, then it's a no brainer. Agreed?

- If there isn't, then it's a no brainer to not use a spot on an average grad transfer QB (think Bentley, Franks, or the QB Vandy trotted out this season).

How bad was Arky this year that they got boat raced in their house by a WKU team that is losing and struggling to move the ball on Western Meatchicken!

Last season was pretty crazy in the QB transfer portal. Justin Fields, Jalen Hurts, Kelly Bryant, Shane Buechele all known names who had proven something.

And we took Kasim Hill and was able to convince him to walk-on and pay his way for a season so that when he goes on scholarship (likely this summer) he'll be against the 85 and not a class counter. Yet people are still wanting to take a grad transfer QB?

I think the staff will play the long game IF they are even thinking of taking a grad transfer QB. By all accounts Jarrett, Hill, Maurer, JT are all returning and you have Bailey as well as Holiday both incoming. I still don't think JT bails this season, he'll be in year 3 as a RS Sophomore. If he's taken care of his class work then he can graduate and do what Joe Burrow did and go play 2 years anywhere he wants without having to sit or get a waiver to play immediately.

Maurer on the other hand would seem the most likely of the group to transfer, he still has a RS he can burn and he now has a crazy ex-gf he may want to separate himself from. Plus his chance to become the starter are becoming less likely with Bailey in the fold.

I’m drawing a blank... at the one minute mark they ask if receivers are stepping up since JJ has to miss the first half and JG mentioned Ramel, Tillman, and “Z”. Who is Z? Is that Isaiah Montgomery?
