Enos?

I think Weinke is an NFL guy. I don't think he's useless, but I do think he appears better suited to that game, for what my opinion is worth. I would think Enos as a QB coach would be a good thing, though if he doesn't want to be a position coach, that could be a struggle. I guess it all depends on how much the Miami year tarnished Enos.
So rent Enos for a year or two and do this again? Were you that impressed his last couple of stops? I wasnt. Not enough to rent him short term.

Enos for Weinke and Lupoi for Rocker, and let's forge ahead.

I'd rather have Weinke as QB coach than Enos. Nothing against Enos, but it's not often you get a Heisman winning QB as your QB coach.

Rocker may be the best DL coach in the country. Not the greatest recruiter of all-time, but impossible to deny the job he's done transforming the DL this season.

Enos is a number crunching geek. He pays too much attention to stats, tendencies and odds, instead of paying attention to what is happening on the field. The type of guy who has it first and goal, at the six inch line, then pulls his star RB, and tries to pass. Sound familiar?
Not no.........But HELL NAW!!!!

His stops as a QB coach were very successful. I would not want him as an OC at all. His success as a QB coach cannot be questioned. With position coaches you are going to be "doing this again" every couple of years at multiple spots any way, so yes, I'd like to improve the QB coaching position from an on-field and recruiting perspective. Plus, Weinke has only been QB coach one year anyway. If a move were happening in the next year or two, I'd like to have an almost guaranteed successful QB coach coming in with my highly touted freshman. Do you think Weinke has been wildly successful enough as QB coach or recruiting to not try and upgrade?

Just curious as to WHY on both of these? Rucker did well coaching
Enos is a fabulous position coach (not OC). His recruiting is very good. I would take him in both regards over Weinke, and I think he is a guaranteed success in that spot. Lupoi is the best recruiter in the nation, and you don't sacrifice much at all with him as the DL coach (again, wouldn't touch him as DC) in comparison to Rocker. I think both are no-brainers.

Doug Marrone could be available next week, as well. Let's go ahead and upgrade over Friend, while we're at it.

Do we go after him and let go of? From what Ive heard he's a pretty good recruiter, and has worked with Mr. Cornbread before.

Happy new year!! And Go Vols!!
Is this a serious question? Are you asking if we fire Jim Chaney and go after an OC who left Alabama without being man enough to even let his head coach/employer know and who just put together a Miami offensive game plan that led to a 14-0 shutout loss to LaTech?

You should probably try to sober up now and see your way out.

No that wasn't my point. It would be idiotic to fire Chaney. I was asking that if we had attrition on our staff, should we pick him up.

Blue font.... kind-of but not really.... I'm a bit meh on Weinke but certainly don't know if Enos would be an upgrade or downgrade . Just because a guy was good at playing a position doesn't mean he's good at teaching it. I wouldn't want William "the Fridge" Perry coaching D line or Fullbacks just cause he scored a rushing TD in a super bowl.
Nothing against Enos or Weinke but I would take Peyton so that invalidates my previous statement because he never won a Heisman.
As far as Rocker I agree to an extent but I also believe there was some maturity that happened with the DL and Pruitt was very involved with that.

Repeated coaching turnover eventually did in Dooley and Lyle.

Excluding situations where an entire staff was replaced, Power Five programs over the last ten years have averaged a turnover of 2.6 assistant coaches per season. So a team losing 2-3 assistants a season is actually normal, not a sign of "repeated turnover."

I don't think the OP was suggesting we replace Chaney. But Enos thrived as a position coach at Arkansas and Alabama. If Weinke moved on, I could see him as a replacement.
