Thread is entertaining but I’m afraid he’s gone. Hope I’m wrong but this just feels like UGA. Which brings me to my next point, how is UGA able to outbid us for our one 5* in the class that we are in on. Seems like our bagmen might need some fan financing

Either we really don’t use bagmen or we do and they need bigger bags.

It is interesting though that on the 24/7 visit timeline, DW has not visted UGA or been visited by UGA coaches since September? I know that timeline doesn't always get everything, but it seems odd that it would have zero data about UGA going in home close to signing day or a UOV since his September OV. We always talk about following the visits, but he doesn't seem to have much contact with UGA.

He went to UGA when they played Texas A&M. He has been there as many times as he has been here.

That's fair.

But I feel like he's leaned Ga for a while and wanted to give TN every opportunity. No different than Whitehead and UCLA. But just a guess.

8 days until DW makes it official. I think we have cycled through the grieving process and the celebration process about 4-5 times each. This has been a fun thread regardless of the outcome.
good news is we have a solid class. getting him would be fantastic, and serve us on many fronts. else, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ one player cant beat an entire team.

I really do not think the recruiting service guys are trying to keep anything quiet or help build suspense. That's just not their way, they like to get their picks in. I think in this case it is truly one of the best kept secrets in a long time. AV himself said months ago they are playing this one tight and everything the service are hearing is on purpose. Then you have Swan saying Nieds is playing chess right now...

No articles have been written. Nobody knows anything. The sign that its really out will be a flood of CB picks, and by that I mean more than 2 :)

UGA roundtables on Atlanta radio today. Weekly show that interviews coaches and staff. Host Chuck Dowdle didn't name anyone but said he is hearing strong rumors that UGA has 3 unannounced signees. FWIW

I would never presume to understand what these kids are thinking. However, I look at it from a logical perspective....

1. UGA's offense was significantly worse under Coley than Chaney and showed zero signs of improvement throughout the year.
2. UGA's offense did not significantly favor the use of TE's more under Coley than under Chaney. Perhaps the opposite.
3. UT's offense started out the year rough but improved over the course of the year.
4. Chaney featured (or tried to) DWA in several games where he was able to use his size to create mismatches.
5. UGA has more talent and does less with it than any team in CFB.
6. UT

So why would anyone favor UGA as a TE?

You know this situation has got to be driving them crazy. Elite recruit that has a lot of interest around his recruitment and they can barely talk about him.

Whichever staff is getting him is having a lot of fun with this one.

Here is why I think it's UT. If he is signing with the expected choice (UGA) then why keep it quiet? It's not going to surprise anyone.

You build suspense just to do what everyone predicts?? Makes no sense.
Building suspense and then shocking everyone by picking the Vols will generate tons of attention. It will be the talk of recruiting season and is huge publicity. Nieds is close enough to this kid and his family to have orchestrated this with them and fits his style...thus the chess vs checkers comments and silence from insiders.

Why not the other way around? Coley is unproven.....Chaney has a long track record.

Hey, I get that, but I didn't say anything about Coley and Chaney.. I personally agree that it would be smarter for him to come here. But look at the team rankings. Kids constantly choose based on success over lots of better individual considerations. That doesn't play into my opinion, at all. Wish it did.

But since he decided, nothing has pointed towards us. Every slip DW has blurted out, every follow he has and everything from paid sites, is all UGA.
Literally the only thing we have is "too obvious, smokescreen" haha.

From Swan man on Christmas Eve...

“Up until late last week I thought we had Washington—— now I tend to agree w Brent ——- damn TN put a lot of man hours in that kid .....”

Let me ask you, was everything you just said, not the exact same case with every single other 4&5 star they just landed on offense?

I get it, deep thought says many of them should have picked us or another team over UGA. The reality is, that's not what has been happening.

He made such a big deal about wanting to have his moment. If it is UGA then the moment is ruined. I believe!

I am trying to cling to the thinnest of hopes. I don't need reality clouding my delusion. Thank you very much.
I kind of am of the opinion that nobody knows outside of the coaching staffs and none of them seem to be talking. The objective signs point toward UGA but until the announcement is made the fat lady has not sung.

That is where I am at too. Everything dripping out seems to be UGA but until we hear it from DW then I don't believe squat.

I talked to a parent of a current football player and the son was home and asked if DW signed with UT and the only reply I got back was lol not sure. So either the parent or the son dont know or he signed and not leaking nothing. I really dont see the son not knowing since he is on the team.

If players on the team knew, it would’ve leaked already. It’s not leaked because the few who know are not talking and really only a few know.
