The Impeachment Thread

You must not be on the same talking points as the others. You do know we have a process to investigate American Citizens and it doesn't involve Ukraine or any other country, right?

This occurred in Ukraine, both Biden/Obama threatening to withhold approved aid and the reknowned corruption of Burisma. A Politico article detailing Ukrainian interference Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire and in Dec. 2018, Ukraine convicted officials for interfering in the 2016 election Ukraine Court Rules Manafort Disclosure Caused ‘Meddling’ in U.S. Election

The Ukrainian prosecutor Shokin has testified that he was investigating Burisma, that his investigation included H. Biden, and that he was told he was dismissed because he wouldn't forgo Burisma. Other Ukraine officials have spoken both ways regarding his claim.

Now, according to you, we don't need any of these pesky agreements with other countries even when it involves possible corrupt activity by Americans in their countries or meddling in our elections, right?

Trump Should Be Removed from Office

But the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.

From the religious right......step in the right direction. Kudos to them for actually having integrity.
Wow, this is not what I was expecting.

After his comments last night and the brutal treatment of the Congressman's grieving wife, it is quite obvious that he was being vindictive because he thought he "did her a favor", by flying flags at half staff, and she still voted for impeachment.

After that cruel behavior, which shows his true nature and morality, can anyone really believe no Quid Pro quo?

3.5 years of Russian conspiracy and counting but now, NOW, we're to assume you're on the right track? Mehhhh...pass.

Yeah, there was a line of White House officials pleading to testify at the committee door, and the Democrats barred them from entering.

The unending spin is amazing.

Meanwhile, Trump’s DOJ is arguing in the Don McGahn subpoena case that courts have no business enforcing congressional subpoenas.

You can’t make this **** up.
You act as though there's no further consideration here, as if House Dems issued a subpoena on Joe Smoe. They didn't, but rather are waging a constitutional battle between the legislative and executive.

As Democrats want to remind us, this is an entirely political process. The presidency is not subservient to the House. Executive privilege has been issued, and there should be no compliance with lower courts who are entirely unqualified to enter this fray or declare.

It's a fine thing to have an adult leading DOJ.

Did they cite US v. Nixon?

"A court should refrain from embroiling itself in an interbranch dispute," the department wrote. "If the Court were to disagree, it should at least leave the stay in place for a reasonable period to allow the Solicitor General to seek appropriate relief from the Supreme Court, especially given the serious question whether McGahn's testimony is even relevant to the now-passed articles of impeachment."

I’m old enough to remember when Trumpets said the House forfeited the right call witnesses because they didn’t go to the courts.

A good argument can be made that the House should have subpoenaed more and fought for them in court. Of course that would have dragged on for months and who knows if it would have yielded more fruit?
