The Impeachment Thread

It's still hard to believe there were zero republicans willing to do the right thing.

Flake, Corker, Hatch, Ryan, Ross, Rooney, Jenkins, Trott, Harper, LoBiondo, Frelinghuysen, Shuster, Gowdy, Duncan, Poe, Johnson, Hensarling, Barton, smith, Garrett and Goodlatte all left last year.

Ironic post, your ilk loves to talk about how there wasn't any interference and here you are admitting russia's interference was no big deal.

Sounds like you need to get your stories straight.

I think the argument went more like Of course the Russians tried; and if it swayed you to Trump from Clinton, you are too damn stupid to breathe. Also the Obama administration was the one that claimed there was no Russian interference ... because they couldn't prove tampering/hacking (apparently for want of looking) of actual election hardware.

No, none of the witnesses the Rs requested were allowed to testify.
What witnesses were they? The ones with first hand knowledge?
I wish one of the dems would have said "let's make a deal, the whistle blower for Trump, or Schiff for Mulvaney and Giuliani."

LOL....Not this again.
He said that to Sonland AFTER he knew of the whistle blower. It was more an admission of guilt than anything.

Nonsense; it doesn't matter when he said it. Trump also said there was no collusion with Russia AFTER he knew FBI was investigating. Gee! - there was no collusion/conspiracy!

The fact is that at no time did Trump tell any of them Ukraine aid was predicated upon investigations into 2016 or Burisma, concerns he had also raised in 2017 and throughout his term.

September 9, 2019
Taylor texts Sondland again about the idea that the military aid is being withheld in some kind of quid pro quo. "As I said on the phone, I think it's crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign," Taylor says.

Sondland speaks with Trump via phone and, during which Trump tells him something similar to, "I want nothing. I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zelensky to do the right thing," according to Sondland’s testimony.

Sondland then responds to Taylor's text, "Bill, I believe you are incorrect about President Trump's intentions. The President has been crystal clear no quid pro quo's of any kind. The President is trying to evaluate whether Ukraine is truly going to adopt the transparency and reforms that President Zelensky promised during his campaign I suggest we stop the back and forth by text If you still have concerns I recommend you give Lisa Kenna or S a call to discuss them directly. Thanks." (Sondland will later explain that he was simply relaying Trump's denial, rather than vouching for it.)

Volker stated no qpq was ever communicated to him. In fact, the entire existence of a qpq seems to be based upon Sondland's assumption. From his assumption, all diplomatic roads fork. The assumption, he admitted in testimony, was the only basis for assuming a qpq was needed by Trump.

That Biden is running from office doesn't omit him from scrutiny or investigation just because the other party holds the WH. Candidate Trump can tell you about that.
