The Impeachment Thread

On a brighter note, I went to Panama City today and hit golf balls on a high dollar simulator. At 70 years old, I still have a swing speed of around 100 mph. One was 101.6. I hit 20 balls and only had one that was more than 5 or 6 yards offline. All within about 10-12 yards in total distance. 3 different drivers, too.

I definitely think they have something to hide. That's why Trump was so adamant against them testifying.
This is why i must continue to considet your posts with a heavy dose of skepticism. It's fine for you to think that. But posting the fact with an intentional implication it somehow shows surreptitious behavior is dishonest when there is a course of action arranged AND your side chose not to go that route.

That sounds very intelligent. What does it mean?

You have a place in the Cape San Blas area? Do I remember that correctly?

Pat Buchanan was so on point when he ran for President in 1992 when he said that we had a culture war in this country. It is very evident looking at the politicians on both sides.

There was a time when I didn't get JC Watts. I was young, but now I do. I'm just glad I came out of my intellectual coma.

1 Corinthians 13:11 NIV

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

I see that Tulsi voted present tonight on both articles of Impeachment. Interesting.
If she voted to impeach, she loses a lot of her support nationally for a possible run in the future. She always won the Dem debates based on Drudge Report polls, meaning she has a lot of Republican support. She has also appeared on Fox several times. So, for that reason, she didn't want to impeach.

However, she is from Hawaii, which is one of the bluest states. She can't change parties to Republican because she would be dead in Hawaii if she did. If she voted to acquit, she would get a primary opponent, and might lose her seat. She's between a rock and a hard place.

Favorable ratings have gone up in the last two weeks , especially in the swing states. Democrats just sealed their defeat in 2020.
There is nothing on Real Clear Politics which shows that. As a matter of fact, the Ukraine military aid story really started to pick up steam in mid-to-late September. Trump's Real Clear Politics Average Approval Rating on September 20th was 44.7%. Today it was 44.5%. Trump's poll numbers have always been stagnant. His approval ratings have remained between 37.1% and 46.2%. I will say that he is currently near the high end of his range... but there is no evidence that his ceiling has been raised. He hasn't expanded his core base of support.

I'm not offended by your skepticism at all. Do what makes sense for you.
But I don't find it dishonest in the least. I'll pretty much always believe that someone fighting a subpoena has something to hide.

No reason to send it. Acquittal is almost inevitable.

The real issue to be addressed is the IG's report. There is far more illegal stuff to investigate than whether Trump thumbed his nose at congress. And if you want to get into the are of abusing power to keep the other party out of office, the FISA violations and illegal monitoring blow "Trump's move against a rival" completely out of the water. The Obama administration with the help of the FBI attempted to pull off a crime for the ages, and the dims are doing their best to deflect attention. This is about the same as attempting to charge someone for littering and ignoring the murder that left the body littering the street.

I've actually had some good discussion tonight. Learned some stuff. Maybe now that its decided, some of the need to win the conversation has lessened.
I have been busy and taken a few days off the forums. I come back 3 days later and this thread is like 125 pages longer. Glad you had a decent conversation here. I’m gonna guess it got buried in a great deal of chaff.

Oh and pretty much nobody I have talked to is even watching this. If it’s brought up people just shake their hands and sigh. I got that from red and blue voters. That told me all I needed to know of the importance of this **** show.

not sure if it's opportunistic, defensive or offensive.

the reality is that Team Barr has one more year to reveal more bad actions against Trump.

I'm guessing that much of the "meh" about Trump impeachment is recognition that the government clearly overstepped against him and this looks like one more example of the system going after him. He's getting inoculated.
