Orangeslice13, a blessing to those around him…..Again

I put the date I thought Reagan was shot.
Oh OK, I thought that's what you were doing.

I guess Slice was 12 or so then.

My equivalent is remembering where I was when JFK was shot.

We were watching it also
I was standing in the 3rd floor of the ************ Building at *&* in S. FL. We watched all of the launches. The southern departures were the best. We usually cheered but the cheers stopped immediately and some tears started when it happened. Many of us knew enough about the program to know something was bad wrong immediately although it didn't need a rocket scientist to figure it out. Actually watched a night launch standing on the jetty in Palm Beach Inlet. Was spectacular. The one day I went up there to see a launch with my Father in Law it was delayed. Watched 9/11 on TV from work in Maryville.

I had left work early on 9/11 for an appointment. Literally couldn't get ready for watching it unfold on tv. Saw someone jump from one of the towers, and it killed me. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
I remember when I saw the first plane I thought it was a accident. Then when the second plane hit I was like oh chit!

I was training our emergency shut team at the plant where I worked, and called my mom on my break. She got national alerts and saw the first plane "accident". While we're on the phone I hear her reading the report about the 2nd plane. She just kept saying Oh my God! Oh my God!!

They pulled TV's into conference rooms at the plant and people wandered in and out all day.

Surreal.

I was at a strangers house and got there tv hooked up and was going to show him his tv worked and it all happened and we sit there and watched it together. I don't know him he don't know me. But I will always remember. I often wonder if he is still alive if he tells people are story.

I was at work in another endless meeting and was told what was happening. No TV, went back to my office and watched the news on my desktop. I thought to myself, “If this is the end of the world, I don’t want to die here at this desk, at this job.”

I started doing what I needed to do to accomplish goals and prepare things to hand over, quit my job six months later without another one lined up, and a few weeks later started at the VA.

9/11 was one of those life-defining moments for a lot of people.

That's crazy. 9/11 brought people together in the most horrible way possible didn't it.
