Early Signing Day

I should expect so, he is a Knoxville resident and his dad is on the staff. If we miss on this one, then, quoting mediocre announcer and Bammer homer Keith Jackson, whoa Nellie!!!

Being in the NW I would have thought you would know that Keith Jackson was a WSU alum and Cougar to the bone.

Don't know why, but I think we had all (gals included, metaphorically) better make sure our cups are in place tomorrow. I feel a Cup Check Wednesday coming on. Hope I'm wrong.
Think you may be right. Of the prospects, we only seem to have a shot at Washington, Baron, Whitehead, and Joseph. And we won't know about Washington until later.

Help me understand what I’m reading in the crystal ball predictions. Many have Tennessee highly rated or at 100% but shows them committed elsewhere. What does that mean? That they are expected to flip? That they were highly predicted to sign with us but committed to someone else? Help me out.

It can mean several things:
1) The scenario you list maybe
2) The chart just hasn't been updated for some
3) Bunch of 18ish year old males sometimes change their mind at the last minute
4) Coaching shuffles change things
5) Sometimes, at the last minute, they get 'white girled'

Both, it depends on the recruit. Basically the people making the predictions are sports writers and nothing to take too serious, but interesting to see what others think of our chances for uncommitted recruits.

I'm in the same boat as illvol, not sure I completely understand that chart. So in the "interests" column where a player is committed to another school and then in the "prediction" column where it lists Tenn. 100%, is that a prediction for that player to flip to us? Or is it that they're just showing that they predicted to Tennessee but ended up committing somewhere else?

A lot of these predictions were made by sports writers before the player committed. They are about as reliable as an actual cystal ball or magic 8-ball.

I'm not sure I can help you understand 247's Crystal ball predictions. I guess if you was really interested in recruiting you would look into it.

Is there one place, sticky, that the results of today are listed? I am finding bits and pieces all over the place but, can't find one list with recruits we expected, those signed, misses, gains, with links to their profiles.

Or #6. They get “bag manned”.

Find a player on the list. Look to the right of their name. If they are committed it will list the school along with the date of their commitment. Next click on the player’s name. Scroll down and you will see 24/7’s recruiting experts on the left and the school they predicted on the right along with the date they made the prediction. If the prediction was made before the commitment then the prediction was wrong.

I don’t 100% know 24/7’s metrics but their “experts” get scores based on if their predictions were accurate and how long their accurate prediction was made before the player announced. There was a problem with a lot of their “experts” changing their predictions the day the player committed to increase their accuracy. I assume 24/7 started penalizing experts‘ scores who flipped within a certain time of the commitment so the result is wrong predictions are left on there.

I honesty wonder if some of our big boosters are worried about paying recruits for UT b/c of Pruitt’s strong Bama connections. Bammers are still mad about Fulmer stabbing Bama in the back.

I know I am taking a risk putting this here and will completely understand if this gets moved to the recruiting forum but this truly is the biggest conversation we need to be having this week.

The expectation is for Tennessee to pick up 20 of their available 25 spots over the next 3 days raising our class rank to somewhere in the top #15 and SEC rank to #5. That is is the expectation. We have a good start with Omari Thomas, a 4 star OL from Briarcrest in Memphis, announcing his commitment last week. Hopefully he is just the tip of the spear.

In addition to Tennessee I feel like we need to watch Florida. Mullen is a good coach but his negative has always been recruiting. There are signs that is changing. My hope is the next few days are very disappointing for the Gators otherwise we may be stuck at #3 in the East for a few more years.

Fair and honest post.

Agree that tomorrow is a big day. Florida fans will be watching three guys in particular; Tim Smith (current Alabama commit), Donnell Harris (current Tex AM commit) and Sam Brown. Those are the big ones in addition to hanging on to the commits they already have.

We’ll also be watching and hoping and maybe even a little bit of praying for EJ Smith. He’s a 4-star RB and yes, legendary Gator Emmit Smith’s son. He’s down to UF, Tex AM and Stanford. Most Gator fans (me included) feel like he is leaning toward Texas AM. It’ll hurt to lose a legacy Gator like that but Emmitt is as legendary in Texas as he is Gainesville, so you sorta understand. It would be momentous to Florida fans if he were to surprise everyone and pick Florida. Long shot, but a shot nonetheless.

Exciting day, best of luck Vol Nation.

ESD starts tomorrow. I’m sure there will be a stickied post in the recruiting forum or here.

Emmitt Smith absolutely hates The Ole Ball Sack, so good luck with that one....lol fish breath!

Make sure Uncle Eddie tells all the recruits that his offense prepared Tim Tebow for all his NFL success.

There are 32 teams in the NFL. The draft helps ensure some sense of balance. I believe there is also a salary cap and team salary cap. At some point, I can see college football going to a 32 team first tier league, a 64 tier second tier league, an on and on. We are #20 at this point per 24/7. I would love to see the staff surprise us with a #10 finish. A ten team may be able to reach the champs. Not sure about a #20 team. Fingers crossed Go Vols!

I would like to get Darnell Washington and Zachary Evans. I feel like we need a good TE and RB in this class.
I think Evans might have been a typo on the Vol Big Board 2020. I haven't read anything in which he stated he is interested in Tennessee. I think LSU will land him.
