After reading through the thread Freak posted room will need to be made to sign the full 25 this year. This is somewhat confusing and just the opposite of what i was thinking considering what Coach JP stated during a press conference.

Take everthing a coach says like a grain of salt. They always try to make it sound like the sky is falling and they miraculously caught it.

Agreed. And... I’d say this is the tail end of coaching transition attrition.

Agreed...looking through the rest of the current roster I don’t see anyone I would lump into that group...even the ones remaining that were recruited/signed by BJ seem very much like Pruitt guys at this point

It is hard to reconcile Pruitt’s comments about the scholarship roster being in the mid-60s with Freaks analysis that shows we need more transfers-out to take 25. IMO, the factors are:

1. Pruitt was talking about available roster and did not count injured but returning players
2. Departing senior class is very small
3.Situation with PWO scholarships is unclear - some may just be partial year scholarships as available due to transfer or injury; others may be ongoing scholarships

It’s important that the 85-cap is not enforced until start of season and the odds say we lose a few between now and then. So, I think we take 25 and are over 85 for a while until the situation resolves itself over the next 9 months

It will be interesting to see where the non grad transfers end up. Good teams might take a grad transfer like Johnson, Tatum to fill a hole in OL but few good teams will take a multiple yr guy unless he can be a starter after a year sitting out.

Don't try to blame Pruitt. It has to do with the fact that we have a very small graduating Senior class. That's why we have a numbers crunch. Which actually reaffirms that things that Pruitt has said.

Again, this is the time of year many coaching staffs have the discussion with players slated to return about future plans. Some of those discussions are, "We as a staff do not currently have any future plans for you." Then they can have the conversation about next steps and the staff frequently helps manage them with that as well, sometimes putting in a good word about slots and places they know about that love to have a player like them.

Curious how teammates will feel about players in portal that don't go anywhere. Coaches may have to factor that in as well.

I would ask wtf you are talking about. But you clearly don't have a clue.
