If the Braves had Elon Musk as their owner and gave Gerrit Cole $300M and deferred half of it I would be fine with it. But the Braves can’t do that with their current ownership group.

If deferred money doesn’t interfere with future ability to spend, I don’t mind. But that’s not how it would work with the Braves.
