Gun control debate (merged)

Mandatory Background check on all gun sales. Must be an American Citizen to purchase a firearm. You know the common sense stuff shunned by the NRA, GOP, and frightened gun owners.

no dem has proposed that only US citizens be allowed to purchase a gun.

the guy passed a background check.

try again.

The dems have fought the American Citizen thing. The Rs wanted that added (only US citizens) and the Dems rejected it. They dont want ICE or any immigration info on the back ground checks.

You're going to have to provide a link to where the democrats rejected the citizen thing about owning a gun and not reporting failed BG checks for non citizens.

The NICS Indices hold more records on illegal/unlawful aliens than any other type of prohibited purchaser — more than 7 million. But few unlawful immigrants try to buy guns from licensed dealers and wind up raising flags, especially compared to would-be buyers with criminal pasts.

You don’t need to be an American citizen to pass a gun background check. The FBI allows sales to foreigners who are legally in the country, so long as they are a permanent resident, have come legally without a visa and meet residency requirements, or have a visa and a hunting or sporting license.

Lets change that.

So you want to limit the rights of legal non-US citizens? Interesting.

What other rights of legal non-US Citizens should we look at limiting? Freedom of speech, religion or how about the entire 4th amendment? What about illegal aliens, should they enjoy ANY constitutional rights?

I’m enjoying all the pretzel twisting over this.

I added to previous post. It appears to be easier for foreigners to buy guns than Americans.
Thanks to your laws, yes. This is what happens when people with no understanding pass "common sense" stuff.

It's what we have maintained on plenty of issues. The more barriers you through up are just negatively impacting the "good guys" not the "bad guys".

Stocks, retirement plans, wealth, health care. I am sure there are more I am missing.

Unless you fit perfectly within their definition of acceptable you dont get any of it.

"Your laws" GTFO.

Pushing to strengthen them. You're the one pushing the removal of laws and making it easier to purchase a gun.

Again I ask. What has any Dem proposed that would have prevented this guy from buying that gun?

I would settle for actual common sense and practicality. Which means less government any way you look at it.

I am fine with BGCs. I am fine with them actually being able to pull from all government sources, something the Ds fight on more than the ICE front. I just dont make up BS about the "loop holes".

A terrorist got a gun because he had a visa and hunting license. Yes it's a "loophole". There, problem identified. Now you can go several ways: push to change, do nothing, or deny it's a problem.

OK Mick, I'm still waiting on any Dem proposal that would have stopped him from buying the gun.

I am definitely in the do nothing category here, considering the proposed fixes are (usually) worse than the problem.

You are an impatient one, and here I was waiting on the Republicans.

LOL the laws "worked as it was supposed to". That's a retarded statement since it failed miserably. Exploitation of Gun Law loopholes championed by the 2A nuts is the foundation of the Democrat efforts to strengthen our gun laws. Weak gun laws is what you nuts wanted and the results are exactly what the Dems warned against. So he didn't buy his gun in one of the states with stricter gun laws, he bought it in a state that used state resources and money to make it easier to get one.

Championing for the loopholes have left you with egg on your face time and time again.

Come on Luther, sorry Mick. You made the statements above so please tell us what Dem proposal would have stopped him from buying the gun.
