I like the Gator in J'ville. I went to the last one and it was pretty fun and not too far from me, but my wife has never been to Nashville, other than the airport. She says if they go there she might actually entertain the idea of sitting through a football game.

247 says
247Sports intel: We expect Alabama to slide to the Citrus Bowl, who last hosted the Crimson Tide (vs. Michigan State) in 2010. Orlando gets first pick of SEC teams after the New Year's Six and grabbing the Crimson Tide is a no-brainer. ... Last-minute intel has indicated Tennessee (7-5) likely won't be playing in Florida after all for New Year's despite entering bowl season on a five-game winning streak. Tennessee last played in the Gator Bowl game to end the 2015 season and drew a crowd, but there's mutual interest between the Vols and Nashville (Music City), likewise with Kentucky and Jacksonville.
Uh thought we played in the Outback Bowl that year vs Northwestern.

I hate bowl tie-ins with a passion! Not worth a damn!

I actually agree. I think bowl tie-ins are antiquated. It's boring that you have to be in a specific conference to go to a certain bowl game. I'd rather it just be an open invite for any of the bowls. I'd love to one day see TN play in the Rose Bowl.

No that was January 2016 we played in Nashville December of 16

The article said we played in the Gator Bowl (then TaxSlayer Bowl) to end the 2015 season; that's incorrect, we played in the Outback Bowl to end the 2015 Season, played in January 2016. We played in the Gator/TaxSlayer Bowl in Jan. 2015, to end the 2014 season.

Not to anger or dispute any of the fine people on VN, but there are a couple of overlooked/forgotten points here. (1) The Vols haven't been to a bowl game since 2016, and (2) at the end of September the only bowls being discussed by most UT fans were cereal and toilet.
I'm thankful Tennessee is going to a bowl and honestly don't care which one or who they're playing. I'm happy (not satisfied) the Vols ended up 3rd in the SEC East. Win the bowl (no matter the opposition or where it is) and continue building for a return to prominence in the SEC. GBO!!
