I believe Ole Miss zeroed in on Kiffin before Luke was even given his pink slip. Explains his somewhat abrupt dismissal. To me this is a home run hire for them considering the circumstances and their position in the SEC West pecking order. You could argue Kiffin will be the 3rd best coach in the West. Ahead of both Orgeron and Malzahn.

You would lose that argument.

I'm sure Charlie Strong, Lance Thompson, Kendall Briles, and probably Frank Wilson will be a part of this staff. I'm glad the Lane Train is rolling back into the SEC. Particularly the West. So be it. But considering the circumstances Kiffin is a huge upgrade from Luke. No doubt about it. He will hire a great staff and will get the type of players Freeze was bringing to Oxford. Now whether he can keep his nose clean is a different story. Maybe putting him ahead of Orgeron and Malzahn is a stretch but not entirely absurd. If I were an Ole Miss fan I would much prefer Kiffin over Norvell.
