Now I'm going to admit to my own stupidity or maybe just that I live in the East instead of Middle, TN but it never occurred to me that the Opry hosted anything other than country acts with the special guest appearance until I saw those posters. I just never thought about it as anything other than the temple of country music I guess. lol.

They had some rock/pop acts in the 80s and then kind of stopped until more recent years. There was a time when the theme park had concerts in the summer with bands like Cheap Trick. It may have just been the same promoter. I have seen some lid-off rock shows at the Ryman, which is really wacky given the reverence that place gets from country fans.
