Schiano

I just wish most people on here would admit that they really don’t care about the truth of what he did or didn’t do at Penn State and just saw it as a convenient (and effective) way to stop the hiring of a coach they didn’t want.

That's what it sounds like but to be fair though Schiano was a very underwhelming hire for a school that expects championships. With all due respect to Rutgers they dont expect that and the guy is a good enough coach for them or anyone else lol. Whatever it took to keep that shyster away from TN was fair game imo. Why in the world anyone thinks this guy is a legit power 5 coach is beyond belief.

That people diss Tennessee and our fans because we did what we did, and none them would have this hoser as their head coach??? Incredibly hypocritical of them. That Schiano has the stain of Penn State scandal is just more fuel to the fire. He wasn't good enough for Tennessee period.

Nobody in Jersey is rutgers fans. We all hope that they put together a program worth watching but nobody cares. It’s all about pro sports. And all the college football fans root for other teams. But all of us other fans do think it’d be cool if rutgers can put together a product worth watching. Even if they are competitive with the middle big ten schools. It’d be cool to go watch a competitive rutgers big ten game

Nah, not really.

Schiano didn’t know anything about the child molestation at Penn State. Schiano didn’t know anything about the spousal abuse at Ohio State. Schiano won’t know anything about the next horrendous scandal that occurs under his nose either

I don't know why he felt the need to bring that up. He's got an 8-year contract and if he just gets Rutgers bowl-eligible on a consistent basis, they'll name the stadium after him. Three OOC cupcakes and get past three of the weaker Big 10 teams and he's a hero. So this worked out just fine for him. Maybe he would have worked out at UT, but I doubt it. I thought it was an "odd duck" hire as soon as I heard of it.

And if Schiano did know anything about Sandusky, he deserves a lot worse than missing out on the coaching job at UT.

Whatever it was, I hope he wins there again, and then Coach Pruitt and his team kick the cold **** out of the Scarlet Knights in a bowl game someday. Assuming Schiano can get them to a bowl good enough to face us, since UT's long-term goal isn't weedeater bowls.

I'm sure he didn't know anything about how Ray Rice liked to beat up women, either. Because I'm sure Ray didn't start with the Ravens.

But as long as Rutgers is winning more than it loses, it will all be fine, I'm sure.

Was he even at Ohio State when that went down? I know he was there for the fallout, but Schiano started at OSU in 2016 and Smith’s wife went to Urban in Oct. 2015 before filing for divorce in Nov. 2015. I just don’t see how he would be connected.

This kind of goes to the point of my earlier post, there are plenty of legitimate football-related reasons to not want him, I don’t understand why the need to go over the top and stretching the truth with allegations against the guy is necessary.

We did exactly the right thing not hiring him, regardless of Pruitts ultimate success or failure. Not a cultural fit at all. Even if you took out the Penn State stuff he STILL was not a good fit. Moving on please....
Schiano lost the locker room very quickly at Tampa Bay. He also was trying to get opposing Qb’s injured when they were in game ending victory formations. They went after Eli and one other NFL Qb in back to back weeks.

Bottom line is he’s a great fit at rutgers not at Tennessee. They aren’t in the same class so no point in comparing

What a pompous tool. Good luck being .500 at a SHITE football school.

And those Jersey accents? Geh atta hair!
He won't be .500. The only reason he had success before is because the two big teams in the Big East left for better conference. The first 1/2 of his career there was abyssal when he had to play good teams. Now he has to play teams that are better than even those teams.

I'm glad fan outrage kept this guy away. Having any ties to sexual child abuse at all would look bad for the face of a prestigious school like UT. That's the reason when the higher ups got word, the contract was abandoned and it cost the job of the guy who would even consider him as a candidate. He can take jabs at an entire state of people that won't accept people with ties to sexual child abuse all he want's. It show his character and solidifies the decision to not make him the face of the program. Very good decision UT!

Nope, he wasn’t there for any of the things you mentioned. But there were obviously problems between the 2015 divorce and Smith’s 2018 firing that got swept under the rug, and Schiano was there for all of that

^^^^^^ this.

If a man knows that a fellow coach/worker/janitor/anyjob is sexually abusing kids or anyone else.. and doesnt blow the whistle and put an end to it.. then that guy is complicit in the crime. Period.

If even 1 little boy could have been spared the nightmare of sexual abuse due to the other coaches standing up for what's right...then ANY coach, trainer, player, secretary that KNEW about the abuse and didnt report it to authorities is GUILTY. They may have escaped justice here...but none of us will ever escape the judgement of Almighty God for our sins here on earth. I am a sinner if ever there has been one. I know that I will answer for all of my sins , whether they were public or private. Those sick bastards at PSU will answer for theirs as well.

McQueary reported it to Paterno, the AD, and another administrator. I'd argue he should have gone to police when it became evident nothing was happening except Sandusky losing his locker room keys and (allegedly) the AD reporting the incident to Sandusky's charity for at-risk children. It isn't correct to say he did nothing, however.

As McQ alleges, he told another assistant what he thought he witnessed. The asst. replied Schiano saw the same thing. That asst. and Schiano denied any knowledge, but then they would, wouldn't they? So, there's no proof either way. I'm not sure how or why you fabricate that, though. I would have taken that as reasonable enough doubt to remove Schiano from consideration.

In actuality, McQueary heard noises and said he saw 14 year-old Allan Myers and Sandusky in the shower, but did not witness sexual activity. He thought the noises were sexual in nature. Myers continued to state even years later that Sandusky never touched him sexually and it was the only charge by prosecutors that Sandusky was acquitted of. As an adult and approached by a lawyer representing eight plaintiffs in the case, Myers suddenly remembered enough to receive part of the settlement. If you're willing to acquit Schiano due to lack of evidence, you should put away your noose for McQ, too.

To Hell with McQueary. That is the problem with half men. They piddle along without the common sense to recognize evil when they see it and try to justify their inaction. I don't need to read your PC horse crap. That is how pedophiles operate. I am not acquiting Schiano. But I am not condemning him over what a POS like McQueary said.

But as I said before, there was plenty of reason outside of Penn State to know why I would never want Schiano.

IOW, "Caveman done made up mind. Facts not matter...ungh!"

I hear you.

No. Cowards don't matter.

Okay; doesn't change facts that are known. McQ saw nothing; there was nothing to intervene into, which doesn't exonerate Sandusky of anything but *that* instance.

All three of them (McQ, Schiano, Bradley) may be liars and cowards. I'm not condemning or exonerating any in the sordid mess without clear reason to do so. But I also wouldn't hire any of them to make a moral point of what is a legal argument.

Also a lot of jabs at NJ here. It’s a great state. Tons of football talent. Unfortunately Fans are more into pro sports and care far more about the giants and jets. rutgers has never gotten support even remotely close to Tennessee. With that said though they are desperate and schiano is by far the best hire they can make. Even if he wins 7-8 games a year that’ll be great improvement and a reason to watch
Exactly

What do you expect him to say? He is not going to say those TN people are smart for not hiring me. SMH I for one am glad things turned out like they did. He can stay in Jersey and play SMALL ball. Butch proved that doesn't work in the SEC. What success Butch had was due to Dobbs and Kamara. SMH
