All these schools being picky about candidates like Mizzou... like UT has earned the right to be picky we are an elite program... heck Arkansas and Ole Miss are better spots than Mizzou.

Recruiting hasn’t been what most people expected of this staff. The sample size is large enough to make that assessment. You don’t have like it but the recruiting rankings over nearly three classes are tangible proof. It may get better. I hope it does. I like Pruitt and want him to stay around for the long haul.

Ok then...since you agree that these guys have been regarded as good recruiters before they got here,..then what your sample size says is that it is extremely hard to recruit at UT right now...hmm wonder why that would be

Given transfers and players that actually signed (bye bye UF's ranking), I believe we finished 5th in the SEC last class. 2nd in the East. And materially no different than LSU and A&M. I believe they had like 90.7 or 90.8 averages and we had 90.5.

Only uga and bama were meaningfully ahead of us and they have been winning a game here and there lately.

It’s 80% coaching and 20% Dak. Garrett is awful and Dak is average.

Defensively, they haven’t played well either. I don’t know what the issue is because Marinelli and Richard have coached up defenses with less talent.

It's not our fault our AD was a buffoon who couldn't find water if jumped out of a boat, but this ain't Rutgers and he ain't Robert Neyland.... he's not even Bill Battle.

Imo the lack of elite recruiting is due to Pruitts straight forward honest approach. He’s sometimes brutally honest with kids and without the huge payoff like he recruited to at Bama that doesn’t sell as well.

Also the approach of an assistant coach to recruiting is very different than that of a HC

It is obvious to me. It is a simple deduction. The Tennessee brand was run into the mud by the time he got the job.

Tennessee has always been, for whatever reason, a target for literally everybody nationwide it seems like. Other schools have had massive faux pahs..and nobody seems to care, but let us have any little nothing happen like Pruitt tuggin on a facemask or a jersey, or JJ unintentionally stepping on a guy after making a ferocious hit...and look what happens...I will never understand it.

It is going to take awhile to restore that brand..it does't matter who the coach is outside of a Saban or Urban type.
