The righteous indignation is hard to take seriously considering the right's indifference to Trump's words on Twitter and at rallies. I don't typically bring up Melania, but this is a woman who has started an anti-cyber bullying campaign while married to Donald Trump. You can't get around the lack of self-awareness here. Cry me a river.

I can agree with you from that angle. That one little quip has taken too much of the focus away from her valid points in favor of impeachment. It would have been better if she hadn't said it.

It‘s was a completely tone deaf statement. I’d think the first directive for any witness in favor of impeachment would be don’t say anything adversarial to indicate bias.

Karlan was clearly biased and she made no pretense about it. The entire inquiry has been a purely partisan exercise with neither side conceding any ground. Democrats have overplayed their hand at times, while no Republicans seem to care why Donald Trump wanted the Ukrainian President Zelensky to publicly announce an investigation into the Bidens. This activity from Trump and Giuliani wasn't about Trump rooting out corruption in the Ukraine. It was about Trump wanting to politically damage the reputation of a potential future opponent of his in the 2020 general election.
