It looks like there's no chance of a Tennessee-Louisville Music City Bowl matchup with Louisville losing 45-13 to Kentucky
Brent just said on the Vol network that the Music City bowl doesn’t believe they will get a SEC team this year.

A lack of SEC teams eligible for bowls this year will help TN’s bowl options.

I'm no tie in expert. But the MCB is almost certain to take an ACC team this year. I'm not sure it matters who it is. Our fans will show regardless. I would think they will take us if available.

At this point I think the MCB will want 8-4 Pitt or Virginia Tech over 7-5 Louisville

You may be right. Both of those would be good match ups. UT vs VT would be a great game in Nashville. We have some historical connections to Pitt. If FSU beats Florida I could see them in the mix too. I would honestly like to see any of those over another Big 10 team in the Gator Bowl.

they may opt for Notre Dame instead -- their idiot fans travel anywhere

The Notre Dame option would likely be applied earlier....I would think the Camping Outdoor Bowl (who has second pick on ACC teams after the Orange Bowl) would use it to take a ranked 10-2 Notre Dame over an unranked 8-4 Virginia Tech. I can’t see Notre Dame falling further than that.

Or - it’s worth note that if the Orange Bowl decides to match a Big 10 team against the ACC team - then the Citrus Bowl becomes an SEC vs ACC matchup. In that case, the Citrus Bowl would likely pass on taking an unranked 8-4 Virginia Tech and take the ranked 10-2 Notre Dame instead.

where does FSU end up ? I dont think they will travel well this year

The ACC has a second tier after the “bowl pool” of that they’d fall into. Depending on overall records of the other teams, they could end up in the Military Bowl, Independence Bowl, or Quick Lane Bowl.

Kentucky will get some has been ACC joker (maybe FSU since they have past ties to Stoops) in the MCB -- doubt if ND goes there to play Kentucky

They’re too far down in the overall standings to be in position for the Music City Bowl with the way the ACC’s bowl tie-ins work.

(Save for one, very slim possibility where everything shifts if a Big 10 team goes to the Orange Bowl, but it would also require FSU to beat UF to get reach 7-5 and the ACC using its own “within a game” rule for bowls to pass on an 8-4 Wake Forest team like 4 times.)

If FSU beats UF -- huge meltdown in Gainesville

Notre dame has played the ACC teams that could make the Orange bowl though. No rematches will be made

Have to wonder with Bama loss how this could shake up the bowl line up for SEC? Especially if LSU takes care of business tonight and next week. That potentially puts UGA, Bama, Auburn, & Florida all in front of us for bowl selections. I’m glad my Vols are going bowling but definitely was hoping to see them in FL come post season.

I think it definitely pushes Florida out of the New Years Six bowls and maybe lets Auburn in (depending on how much the win over Bama bumps them up in the polls).

LSU and maybe Georgia get into the playoffs. Then Bama into the Sugar. Auburn maybe (just maybe) into a New Years Six at large. Florida to the Citrus. Then no change at all for Tennessee: we're still in with all the other qualified SEC teams for the "pool of 6" bowls (Gator, Outback, Music City, Liberty, Belk, Texas).

So really, no effect on us.

No it doesn’t. Florida is going to the Cotton bowl

How does it push UF out of the NY6?
