Something missing (shocking) from ESPN Rivalry Week article

Tell that to General Neyland. It's always been a rivalry and always will be.
That was 70 years ago. I suppose it’s a rivalry now since Vandy has been beating the crap out of us recently. Well they even gave some of our better teams a battle. Effort means something.

I'm always amazed at the lengths people will go to to find something to be upset over.

This. Why would anyone outside of the 2 fanbases (1 of which is barely considered a fanbase) care about this game at all? I guess Indiana and Purdue should be mad too, that wasn't mentioned in the article and they've played since 1891.

So ESPN runs a pretty cool article about rivalry week. I kept scrolling looking for the detail around the Tennessee/Vandy rivalry to find they didn’t bother to include it....

Founding members of the SEC and first played in 1892 yet ESPN didn’t bother to include it. Just silly.

That's because it's not really a rivalry when one side has 80% of the wins, there is no trophy, no nickname for it either it's simply become a guaranteed win for the Vols.

Neither is A&M vs. LSU. And as others have said the last few years have not treated us well. Still a long standing in-state game we play during rivalry week. Would think that it would have been mentioned but given the responses in this thread it seems most folks agree with your point.
