Of our 3 most recent head coaches, which one inherited the least amount of talent in terms of scholarship players, and which one inherited the most amount of talent?

Dooley inherited more than the other two IMO, and a real QB. I think it is about even with Butch and Pruitt.

Probably gonna have to go with Butch but the 18 team wasn't much better than the 13 team IMO

I could be wrong but I don’t think Dooley inherited a number of the players you mentioned. I believe he recruited Hunter, Rogers and Rivera.

I know Bray and Hunter for sure verbaled to Lane. Hunter almost backed out of his commitment.

Seems like Dooley had something like 20 days to NSD when he was hired.

Dooley, Pruitt, boy butch. Remember all those small minded fans that worshipped boy butch? They told us weekly what a fabulous recruiter he was, the greatest recruiter they'd ever seen, a living recruiting ledgend.....If they were right (and not a bunch of lying, drunks) then Pruitt inherited a Huge Number of Great Recruits. What's great about this is, while boy butch is gone (thank God) Pruitt has turned out to almost as good as boy butch when it comes to being a recruiter!

Dooley didnt inherit much. And a lot of what he did didn't pan out and left from bad character. Lane inherited less then all three coaches in my opinion.

He did inherit some NFL OL though didn’t he? I don’t remember much from the D. Selective memory I guess

This is easy.

Butch had 3 players drafted after his first year.

Dooley had 2.

Pruitt inherited the Tennessee team with the worst record in program history, and had 0 players drafted after his first year.

Pruitt inherited the worse situation by a mile, and still beat 2 Top 25 teams with what he had.

Makes no difference now. I blame all that stuff on the AD, for hiring Dooley and Butch. At least Fulmer knew what he was doing when he hired Pruitt. Pruitt is changing the culture at Tennessee. But back to your question. I think Pruitt did. How many from Tennessee was named to the SEC team when Pruitt took over?

Are you high? Lane inherited 6 NFL draft picks. Have 6 guys been drafted since? And a CFL hero.

Pruitt has actually done more with less by far. It's a damn shame how hard he screwed the pooch on GA State and BYU.

I hate to have to admit to this chit but the dang Knoxville machine had me hooked to the Butch Bricks but the good thing was the withdraw just pissed you off it don't hurt! Maybe that was because I hate his offense he tried to kill the I formation so we fired his azz and now we got a real coach! Defense 1&2 offense 2nd then special Teams 3rd and you would rather go to a donkey show then to have lost. So like in every great ending you Win . Whoooo....go vols.
