If we were bumping against the 85 scholarships limit I would say transfer, but next year we should still be 5-10 total short so it literally cant hurt to have him here.

Sliding scale: JG was harshly treated early b/c 4th year players should be more effective. While BM has long-term upside & gave the offense juice early on, he makes freshman mistakes & limits what the coaching staff can do.

Why is it disrespectful to say yes if you think that a clean break would be best for all parties involved? Assuming Bailey Stays solid, the second he gets on campus he becomes the savior. JG has earned my respect because of his toughness and willingness to persevere when a lot of kids would have transferred or quit a long time ago, but does he really want to put himself through another season like this one? I don’t know that I would, especially when you have the 5 star savior of Tennessee football being the toast of the town before he‘s taken a snap and the rest of Volnation is waiting for your next big blunder.

I hope he finishes strong and goes out with a bowl win and then we all hug and say our good byes and let him know how important he was in establishing the foundation of the next great phase of Tennessee football.

He's a great young man. He's not a good SEC QB. We only scored 17 against UK, we're 5-5, granted he's done well coming off the bench but two of those 5 losses against inferior teams can be laid mainly at his underperforming feet. Don't even get me started on the Bama debacle. He needs to go after this season.

Why now ,he’s just getting comfortable in new offense and figured out he can drop back, scan the field and not die. Maybe even run for five yards forward and not backwards.

I voted yes.

JG played well in his limited role against Miss. State. He led us to a W against USCe and Kentucky.
But sandwiched between Miss. State and USCe was an absolutely abysmal performance against BAMA!
And JG looked mediocre against UAB.

The bottom line for me is his INCONSISTENCY.
He has persevered thru some humiliating performances that HE BROUGHT ON HIMSELF.

He's like a box of chocolates--you just never know what you're gonna get.

GO VOLS!

Show your respect towards a true leader. He has taken hits on the field and off. He has had to admit his shortcomings, yet he has prevailed. He come through the fire a stronger person. Eat some crow, if necessary.
This cult mentality gets weirder by the day.............

I hope he does stay though to guide the younger ones in the room

This is the mentality of the new generation, that received participation trophies their entire life. It's called competition. The best player wins. JG is not a quitter. He has demonstrated that time and time again. He stays focused, prepared and tries to make the best of his opportunities. My hat's off to him for that.

But, if your Mommy says you need to quit if your feelings are hurt, by all means, take your pink tutu and run home sucking your thumb.
I love when people rail about kids and participation trophies, forgetting it was the parents crying about their precious timmy not getting a prize for showing up.

I think he should do whatever he thinks is best for himself and his family.

Seriously...whether he stays or goes is his choice. He's inconsistent and is probably not the best long-term option the team has (in terms of ceiling and development prospects), but that doesn't mean he hasn't matured quite a bit as a player. By that, I mean the changes in attitude and perspective he's experienced since his pouting fit on the sidelines at the GT game years ago may be valuable and helpful to Maurer, Shrout and Bailey next year. Wherever and in whatever capacity he ends up, Knoxville or elsewhere, hopefully he'll do well .

I strongly backed him to start the year and was with him when 90% were against.

However, he did struggle for most of the year, but I believe a lot of his problems were induced by the horrible protection he received last year.

Very nice to see him win a few for us when we really needed it.

I don't believe he will/should win starter next year and so unless he wants to be a backup, I think he should transfer.
I think he should come back and lead his team to 9 or 10 wins. That would be much better tham hearing all the excuses for losing due to inexperience.

And had the coaches had this team prepared for the first 2 games this year 9 wins would be on the table this season. I dont see the staff making the same mistake next year. So 9 wins is defintily within reach. 10 if everything falls our way.

I think he should come back for his Senior year. He has earned our respect by the way he has toughed it out this season.

Did I want to ring his neck in Tuscaloser? Heck yeah I did. But we aren't 5-5 without him. We may also need him to be the 6th man next season too.

I vote yes. But not for the reasons one would think. If I were him,I would wonder if the grass was not greener on the other side if the fence. I think he will have proven all he can here by the end of the season. I would wonder just what else might be out there for me and if I might be better off in a different environment. Maybe one where the magnifying glass was not so strong.

If jg stays he will play more than any of our qb's, I dont think he should but I believe he will.

I like jg as a person, but if he comes back and is the starter imo we dont improve on wins he is just too inconsistant, and does not leasmd the team to enough points
