@hmanvolfan, these days, it's likely you can buy solid chunks of smoked pork belly (basically, uncut bacon). Chop some up and put this into baked beans. Heck, put some into collard greens with parsnips. Yeah, I know, parsnips? But mixed with collards flavored with chunk bacon or fatback, it's a whole 'nother story.
