Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

I’m honestly not a fan of targeting unless it is helmet to helmet or launching shoulder to head to a defenseless player. I’m tired of football getting soft.

I don't disagree with you. I do think that some that they call are very questionable and others they don't call clearly are targeting based on the current rule. The inconsistency of it all is what is frustrating.

Fleck may be a good coach, but could you imagine if we’d hired him right after the intern? Going from champions of life to row the boat and similar stuff would not have been fun

None of that stuff matters when you win. Everyone here was stacking bricks or petting the orange dog or something at one point.

Fleck and butch aren’t in the same galaxy when it comes to football IQ and overall coaching ability.

I agree with the inconsistency. But honestly I’ve only really seen inconsistency with SEC refs. All the other conferences will call it even if it is super close. Even if they aren’t sure, because the new rule states that it has to be conclusively targeting so there is no harm or foul if they throw the flag and it isn’t targeting. The SEC is afraid to throw the flag period.

Except against UT.

My wife gets so mad at me any time we go to a store. Every time I see someone wearing a bama shirt or hat I walk by and say something like bandwagon fan.
I just cant help myself, I live in NE TN and it's all bandwagon fans that just piss me off.
Sorry, off the soap box now.

Rules analyst Matt Austin "he didn't mean to do it so it's not targeting" LOL
He's absolutely there for no other reason than to justify. Say "disagree with that one" on occasion to seem legitimate and then boast about the ref's 95% accuracy rate.

Like having the defendant's brother as the judge.

You're reading that the wrong way. The fact that a Bama fan made that sign IS a good thing. They watched our game with them too and we have their attention. A year ago, that same sign would've said Auburn instead.
Also, they're a little sensitive on the subject because they know we won that game THIS year with the Birmingham ref office changing the outcome.
