Just looked it up...

David Johnson - 54th national ranked recruiter for 2020, is the primary on Eason, French, McDonald, Williamson, & Hodge
Last year he was the primary for Keyton, Gray, & Means

Yeah, I don't wanna lose YAC, Ansley, Tee, Chaney, Friend, Rumph, or Nieds seem to be our best recruiters and are doing well at developing guys too.

When we're talking about recruiting all you can go by is where they are rated/ranked and their HS accomplishments, and frankly you're an idiot if you think Eric Gray wasn't an absolute GREAT recruit at RB.

That’s fine lol. I just think we have different criteria of what a GREAT recruit is. Our RBs on field production i think we can both agree has been nothing spectacular.

sad day I thought would never happen when not only are both UT bball teams not ranked (especially the girls- there was a time when it was unheard of for them to even be ranked outside the top 10), but the girls barely skate by east tn state!? getting outscored in the 4th? Yikes how far we've fallen...

Also, KY mens looses their top 4 scorers and still put on that performance last night... wow i can't stand them...

Right. Gray is very good player and I’m happy to have him. But he wasn’t like a top 25 recruit and he hasn’t played like one either.

Gray is 3rd in rushing yardage for true freshmen in conference, Ealy and Spiller are the only ones ahead of him. Both were higher rated RBs coming outta HS too. But neither of them is 3rd in a RBBC situation either.

Spiller leads the team in carries, Ealy is 2nd in carries among RBs. And A&M/Ole Miss both are better running teams than us currently.

Gray was a GREAT recruit coming out of HS. Had the ratings, the stars, the rankings, all the stats.

Has he been GREAT as a freshman RB? No he's not. But he's not been bad either, I think him not going through spring ball hurt his production this season. But either you're arguing about him as a recruit or you're arguing about him as a college player, can't play both sides. Cause using hindsight I can tell you Bryce Brown was a bust, but absolutely no one thought he wasn't a GREAT recruit.

I can confirm he's not interested in us, at least up until his UK commitment when I last discussed it with his teammates.

on 24/7 the top 25 had 2 RBs in it for 2019 rankings: John Emery Jr & Trey Sanders. Gray has more rushing yards than both of them combined this year.

We’ve had the most punt returns for TD’s in a season since forever, punt and kickoff coverage has been stellar. The only poor performance HAD been punting and a simple player change seems to have corrected that. He’s worth keeping. I propose they sell Rumph on greener pastures OR allow Chaney to take over QB’s and use that spot (Bass? 😉).

Kickoff returns have been atrocious. You are right about the coverage units.

I bet Bass would be a heck of a recruiter.

They haven’t been aggressive on kickoff returns...many teams aren’t, that’s an end result of rule changes discouraging such. Assuming you don’t get the inside humor with Bass concerning Weinke?

He had a good first three weeks.

But again, I’m not complaining about Eric Gray. I love him and think he’ll be a really good player. He might break the all time rushing record here if he stays long enough.

My point is just that - other than BYU - I don’t think he’s been a difference maker. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have signed him or shouldn’t have been very happy to sign him. I just assumed Pruitt would land more Bryce Browns or Jalen Hurds.
